December was yet another jam-packed month Education wise here for Deerassic. We visited Buckeye Trail High School several times to educate kids in the Outdoor Adventures and Wildlife Biology classes about subjects such as food plots and land management, Ohio mammal skulls, and wild turkeys. We also made our monthly stops to Cambridge Primary and Intermediate for their After-School Programs. This month, students learned about Ohio mammal skulls and furs. We then trekked to Meadowbrook Middle School for their MAKERS Club and also talked about Ohio’s mammal skulls. All these kids learned through hands-on and visual aid learning tools and were able to see and feel the animal skulls learning how to identify them out in the wild. As great as 2019 was here at Deerassic, we’re very excited to see what 2020 holds!

DEERASSIC ACTIVITY SPOTLIGHT Each month we spotlight one of the amazing educational activities offered by our amazing education team

QDMA (Quality Deer Management Association) Program Description: This 5-day program is perfect for an in-school visit. Deerassic Park staff come and take over your classroom for the week to teach kids the importance of quality deer management. This curriculum includes powerpoints, videos, worksheets, hands-on activities, and a final test to teach students things such as: deer biology and anatomy, deer history, aging and scoring bucks, trail camera surveying and analyzing, etc. Teachers can choose whether they use the worksheets and test towards the students’ grades or it can just be a week of fun learning for the kids. Length: Five, 40 minute periods Grades: 6 th +
