Holiday Celebrations Arrive in Deerfield

Need to supercharge your holiday spirit? Celebrations are in full force in the township this December with the annual Holiday Lights (Christmas Tree Lighting) on Saturday, Dec. 9, and Chanukah Wonderland on Thursday, Dec. 14. Both events will take place at the Deerfield Towne Center and are free to the public.
Music, horse-drawn carriage rides, and indoor arts and crafts are all part of the festivities at the Holiday Lights (Christmas Tree Lighting) event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 9. There's even the chance to get your picture taken with Santa before gathering with friends and neighbors to watch as the bulbs come to life on the tree.
Hosted in partnership with The Jewish Discovery Center, the Chanukah Wonderland (Menorah Lighting) takes place on Dec. 14 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Participants will enjoy crafts; cotton candy, popcorn, doughnuts and latkes; draidels; and a fire show. Plus, take a commemorative photograph with the Draidel Man and get your own menorah.

Visit the township website for more information about both events.

Deerfield Township recently added two new firefighters to its ranks. Kevin Wedding and Russ Stansell both have a history of service with the township.
Firefighter Wedding has been with Deerfield Township since 2000, but he started in fire service at the age of 16 as a cadet with the Owensville Fire Department. He is certified as a Firefighter II, Paramedic, Deerfield Township Fire Rescue Qualified Fire Apparatus Operator, Fire Safety Inspector, Certified Rescue Technician, Aerial Truck Operator, Fire and EMS Instructor, Fire Officer III, Hazardous Materials Technician, Petzl EXO Safety Trainer and Rapid Intervention Team Trainer II.
Firefighter Stansell entered fire service in 2010, and, in 2012, he started as a part-time firefighter and paramedic with the township. His certifications include Firefighter, Fire Safety Inspector and Paramedic.
We hope you'll help welcome them both to their new roles!

The Mason and Deerfield Chamber's Connections MADE Networking Group and the Mason Deerfield Chamber staff invite all members to celebrate the holiday season at the fourth annual Jingle Mingle, which will take place at the chamber's offices on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Festivities include holiday drinks and treats. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite (and most photographable) holiday sweater, bring an ornament representing their business for the office tree and donate canned goods for area families in need.
The event is free to all chamber members. Registration is available on the chamber website
