July is Parks and Recreation Month
July is national Parks and Recreation Month!

We encourage people to get out and explore our parks and participate in the various programs planned.

Check out the programs below for family friendly outdoor activities in the Township.
Park Pop-Up Activities
This summer, we will be doing pop-up self-directed activities that allow for family fun while social distancing throughout all the parks in Deerfield Township.

These include StoryWalks, Youth/Teen/Adult Fitness Trails, Where's Waldo and more.

Kingswood Invasive Species Removal Volunteer Opportunity
The Ohio River Foundation will be working to remove invasive species of plants and trees from 20.6 acres of the northern portion of Kingswood to help promote the growth of the natural habitat. These invasive species include honeysuckle and flowering pear.

The work is expected to continue through the Fall in various stages and ongoing maintenance will occur thereafter.

As a part of this there are volunteer opportunities to assist in the work. To learn more about that and see the upcoming dates please visit the link below.

100 Hours Outside
The Warren County Park District is challenging kids between now and Labor Day to do the 100-Hours-Outside Summer Challenge. ANY time outside counts including our Park Pop-Up Activities!

Every child who completes the challenge will receive a prize AND will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize, which will take place at the Friends of Warren County Park District meeting at 1pm on 9/9/20 (winner does not need to be present).

As a part of this, the Warren County Park District will be conducing a county-wide BioBlitz with iNaturalist. It's an activity that families can do on their own while maintaining social distancing, and still encourages people to get outside and appreciate our natural spaces.

July Movie Opportunity
We will be presenting “Jumanji: The Next Level” at North Cincinnati Community Church on July 31st at 9:00PM. Space is limited and offered as an in-car experience only.

You can register for free entry starting on July 17th on www.deerfieldrec.com . One registration per vehicle and registration is free. More information can be found at the link below.

Small Business Assistance
The CARES Act, signed in March 2020, created additional funding for the US Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network in order to provide additional support for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a part of that, the Warren County SBDC has been able to hire independent contractors to assist area businesses. The services they provide are complimentary and confidential.

Deerfield Township’s assigned consultant is Mike Kelly, CFP, CPC. You can schedule time to meet with Mike. He is available to meet via phone, virtually or in-person on Tuesday mornings 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
