Traffic signal timing adjusted on SR 54 following concerns raised by a local fire company

In response to an inquiry that Rep. Gray received from the Bethany Beach Fire Company about the timing of the traffic signals and related safety concerns along Lighthouse Road (SR 54), he reached out to DelDOT for some clarification.

As a result, a DelDOT official responded with the following information after looking into the matter:

We have adjusted traffic responsive parameters to be more responsive to changes in traffic demands associated with the variations of 'beach' traffic. My review of traffic data and personal observations indicate there has been an improvement in the DE54 delay, especially during peak demand periods. We are continuing to monitor and make adjustments as warranted.

Volunteer registration is now open for the Delaware Coastal Cleanup

Volunteers throughout the state are encouraged to join the 2023 Delaware Coastal Cleanup -- the annual one-day coordinated statewide trash gathering event that will be held this year on Saturday, September 23rd, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Online volunteer registration is now open.

Sponsored by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the event marks its 36th year by staging cleanups at 45 sites.

Last year, 1,180 volunteers cleaned up 6,248 pounds of trash from waterways, wetlands, and other natural areas.

In addition, everyone is invited to join a campaign starting September 1st to clean up neighborhoods, green spaces, and waterways statewide at locations and times of their choosing.
