State Chamber Update
This Wednesday we are headed down to the nation's capital to host the 9th Annual Taste of Delaware with honorary host, U.S. Senator Chris Coons. Held as close to December 7 as possible, the Taste of Delaware commemorates the anniversary of Delaware ratifying the Constitution in 1787 making us The First State. It will showcase more than 20 of the state's very best in the hospitality industry such as The Starboard Restaurant, Capriotti's Sandwich Shop, SoDel Concept's Thompson Island Brewing Company, Hotel du Pont, UDairy Creamery, Painted Stave Distilling, the University & Whist Club, and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery.

Speaking of Dogfish Head... We hope to see you at to our 183rd Annual Dinner on January 6 where Sam and Mariah Calagione will be our guest speakers. The Calagione's will share Dogfish Head's story with the business community as they reach the milestone of 25 years in business.

Last but not least, please join us on December 19 for our last installment of our 2019 Chamber Leadership breakfast , featuring Collin O'Mara. When he was appointed as DNREC Secretary by Governor Markell in 2009, he was the youngest state cabinet official in the nation. During his tenure, O’Mara repeatedly demonstrated that economic development and environmental conservation go hand-in-hand. O'Mara now leads the National Wildlife Federation, America's largest wildlife conservation organization.
On Tuesday, the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) releases its small business index data on November member performance. November's consumer price index numbers will be out on Wednesday. We close out the week on Friday with retail sales figures for November and business inventory data from October.
