Recently, the Alberta Association of Optometrists (AAO) has been made aware of several delistings of optometric clinics/doctors by ManuLife Insurance and Equitable Insurance. To date, the affected doctors and their clinics have not been given an explanation for such delistings.
The AAO is taking this very seriously and is working with the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) to better understand what is taking place and creating mitigation strategies to hopefully resolve this issue.
We will work with the membership to gather the best information possible and continue our efforts with the CAO to ensure insurance firms are aware of our concerns. The AAO will provide updates to you as new information is presented, or changes take place.
