Performance Measure Dashboard Updates:

New and Revised Ecosystem Targets and a 2022 Year in Review

The Delta Stewardship Council has updated its online dashboard for tracking Delta Plan Performance Measures. New content includes an expanded set of measures for tracking Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta ecosystem restoration, adopted in June 2022. Another new web page looks back at the key impacts of conditions in 2022 related to implementing Delta Plan policies and recommendations.

The Delta Plan

The Delta Plan creates a common vision for taking on the region’s current and predicted challenges. It includes regulations, non-regulatory recommendations, and performance measures to further water supply reliability, ecosystem resiliency, and the unique values of the Delta as a place. Tracking its performance measures is critical to the Plan’s implementation and allows those at work in the region, interested parties, and the public to understand how well goals are being achieved.

Adopted by the Council in 2013, the Delta Plan anticipated the need for periodic reviews and updates in response to changing circumstances and conditions in the Delta and Suisun Marsh. The most recent amendments were adopted last year to achieve a dynamic, resilient, and restored ecosystem. Associated performance measures look at subsidence reversal, flows, fish passage, and more.

In 2019, the Council launched an online dashboard to track performance measures visually and to provide open access to the associated data, methods, and information. Environmental scientists, managers, and decision-makers use the dashboard to detect when and where a change in approach is needed.
