Delta Sigma Pi Welcomes New Members
Zeta Nu Chapter induction ceremony held 
 
Spring 2019 recruitment came to end with a momentous ceremony held on February 15th in which pledges are notified of their official status as a pledge. The ceremony was conducted by brothers and presented the pledges with the general guidelines and rules for being accepted into the brotherhood. Zeta Nu had a total of nine pledges and each pledge was accompanied by their big brother. The big brother program was established to ensure pledges had someone to guide them through the process. A dinner followed the ceremony. The dinner was hosted and provided by Ol' girls kitchen in downtown Kingsville.

Forensic Accounts Catch Criminals By The Numbers
Javelina Today highlights new business program   
 
Think of an FBI agent, and a familiar image may emerge-a tough-guy-type, bursting through the door, gun in one hand and a badge in the other. That portrayal is quickly changing with the addition of a calculator.  
 
Students in the College of Busi­ness Administration at Texas A&M University-Kingsville may now add a forensic accounting certificate to their accounting degree and go to work catch­ing the white-collar criminals.  
 
Dr. Genevieve Scalan, associate professor in the accounting and finance department, describes the difference between forensic accounting and a typical accounting program by noting the foren­sic program's focus on detecting crimes using accounting analytics and other ac­counting techniques while a more typical accounting program focuses more on the use of accounting to record, analyze and report legitimate business transactions. Business faculty and students partnered with the University Office of Enrollment Management for information sessions on becoming a Javelina with juniors and senior students at Veterans Memorial High School in Corpus Christi on February 15.  Pictured left to right, student Elmer Whiddon, Dr. Jack Shorter, Ms. Linda Parks of VMHS and Mr. Adrian Garcia.

Community Breakfast 2019   
21st Century Bank Leadership: Tech, Talent and Transformation
 
The Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration will host their Ninth Annual Community Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, in the ballrooms of the Memorial Student Union Building. The event is co-hosted by the Kleberg County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by IBC Bank.
 
Tickets are $10 per person or $80 for a table of eight. Online registration is required and no tickets will be available at the door.
 
This year's speaker is Chris Furlow, President and CEO of the Texas Bankers Association, who will provide an overall picture of the banking industry- strategic transformation in regulations, technology, risk and talent.
