Demand for DTC Wine Sales Continues to Build
The direct-to-consumer (DTC) wine segment continues to build momentum with no signs of slowing. Year-over-year growth for DTC wine shipments in December were better in both dollars (23.3%) and volume (32.9%) than each of the previous three months, according to data from Nielsen, ShipCompliant, and Wines Vines Analytics.
Likewise, for the full year DTC wine shipments were way up in 2020, reaching a value of $3.7 billion and 8.4 million cases. However, the channel's performance still pales in comparison to the size of the off-premise wine channel at $20 billion and 211 million cases.
