Discover Dixon to Present Candidate Forum

Join Discover Dixon, as it hosts a Candidate Forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at The Dixon: Historic Theatre, 114 S. Galena Ave. Doors will open at 5:30.

This forum presents an opportunity for voters to gain insight into the policies, visions, and personalities of the candidates vying for a critical role in shaping the future of Illinois.

Engage in the democratic process and be part of a community dialogue as Illinois State Representatives candidates Brad Fritts (R) and David Simpson (D) discuss the pressing issues facing our state. 

Illinois Senate Candidate Li Arellano (R), who is running unopposed, will also address the audience. The event will be moderated by Dr. Dave Hellmich, President of Sauk Valley Community College.

Community members can click here to submit a question for the forum. The most frequently asked questions will be addressed at the forum.

Registration Open for Ultimate Tailgate!

Come enjoy the Ultimate Tailgate Rib & Chili Cookoff! from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 in the Beanblossom Parking Lot!

Locals and traveling teams show off their chili and ribs, while hungry patrons pack the parking lot! 

There is a $5 admission while chili supplies last. **Please note: This is not a rib tasting event.**

Grab some lunch from Back Road Bar-B-Q, who will be on site and have food to purchase!

We’ll be showing the Bears vs. Panthers game on the big screen at noon. Wild Wrek will be playing live music from noon to 3 p.m.

The bars offer specials and get involved in the competitions, too! It always makes for a great fall afternoon downtown!
