Cedar Rapids Launching a Community Effort

Exciting work ahead!

On 9/19, an initial group convened in Cedar Rapids to discuss ideas to start the launch process for a local Dementia Friendly Community initiative! Thank you to the Chris & Suzy DeWolf Family Innovation Center for Aging & Dementia for hosting this inaugural meeting. Kathy Good and Dawn Riley have been working together to spearhead the local efforts. We are looking forward to seeing the steps taken towards a more dementia friendly and inclusive community in the Cedar Rapids area! If you have interest in getting involved locally, contact mzimmerman@nei3a.org.

Receive Dementia Friendly Training for your Organization Be recognized for your commitment; better serve your clients & community

The majority of people with dementia live in the community, so all sectors of the community need to be equipped and ready to serve clients with dementia. Recently trained & recognized Dementia Friendly Organizations include: Cedar Falls Public Library, MFL Ambulance Service, St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Clark Orthodontics, and many more!

Our Dementia Friendly Organization training helps organizations better recognize, accommodate, and empathize with clients and fellow community members who are living with dementia. Learn more here.
