Democracy in Turbulent Times
"Leadership in Turbulent Times" is certainly an apt title for a book being published in 2018. I had the chance to hear author Doris Kearns Goodwin speak last week at the annual conference for the International City & County Management Association, where she talked about the populist ideals of one of our founders, Theodore Roosevelt who once said that "The government is us. We are the government, you and I." This remains as the foundation of our work at League.

MTV and Civic Nation recently launched #VoteTogether- a new, national campaign to make voting fun and celebratory! Together, they've launched a national contest to award $1000 grants to individuals and organizations that commit to organizing Election Day parties for the 2018 Midterms.

| 29 Communities Receive SolSmart Recognition |

As part of the 104th ICMA Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, 29 communities received Special Recognition Awards for their incredible work in lowering the cost
of going solar. These communities earned at least 60% of the credits available in at least one of eight criteria categories.
