BUY BLACK! When Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III, of Friendship-West Baptist Church, announced 100 Days of Buying Black in acknowledging the 100th Commemoration of the Tulsa Race Massacre, a year ago, we joined the movement. December 31, 2021 marked 100 days of featuring Black Businesses, and we decided that the struggle continues and we must also. So enjoy reading about more Black-owned businesses and please support. We're still going strong today and we also received recognition from the National Newspaper Publishers Association for our efforts!

OUR SUPERB WOMAN OF THE DAY
Rona Gassaway Jackson
|
|
She and her sister, Dona, are the daughters and granddaughters of identical twins! A grandmother, like her sister, she is deeply grounded in her faith and family is definitely a priority! An educator, author, performer and writer, Rona’s creative juices are always flowing.
Over the decades, Rona has focused a lot of her attention on youth. She is about lifting as she climbs and educating the masses. Dallas' own Rona is special in so many ways and if her intellect and heart were not enough, there is the beauty of her smile, which we'd like to say is like none other, but actually it is. It is like her beautiful sister, who when she looks at, is like looking in a mirror; so vibrant and endearing as well as captivating and encouraging.

Our Superb Women!
2021 was the "Year of the Woman," especially the Black Woman! For 10 months we dedicated this space to uplifting Black women and spreading a message that we need to show love and empower people with love instead of destroying them with hate and disrespect. We celebrate Black Women and call them SUPERB! AND WE ARE KEEPING THE CELEBRATION GOING IN 2022!

No Red Wave but Election Night Results Could Still Leave Democrats Feeling Blue
|
By Stacy M. Brown
As Election Night turned slowly into Wednesday morning, the U.S. House and Senate balance of power remained a tossup after tens of millions of votes were counted nationwide. And while crucial races like the Georgia Senate race between Republican Herschel Walker and Democratic Incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock remained too close to call, the red wave many political watchers and several mainstream media outlets predicted hadn’t developed.

30 YEARS IN SHOW BUSINESS: HERE'S WHY WE SHOULD GIVE TYLER PERRY HIS FLOWERS NOW
He proved that where we end up is more important
than where we started.
|
Because Of Them We Can
By BOTWC Staff
Most of us were introduced to Tyler Perry through his Madea movies, which were usually sold by the neighborhood’s “movie man.” He'd stop by the barbershops and hair salons with perfume, tasers, jewelry, and Tyler Perry’s newest play. Before Perry made it to the big screen, he was singing songs and reciting Bible scriptures on stage. You’d hear the audience laughing and even catch the actors trying not to.

Man gets 45 years after girl slain while getting a snack in her Old East Dallas home
Prosecutors said Davonte Benton and Tyrese Simmons targeted the wrong apartment and killed 9-year-old Brandoniya Bennett a week before school began in 2019.

Sontravia Elder puts on a facade every day since her 9-year-old daughter was shot and killed three years ago in their apartment. She has to appear strong for her other children, she told jurors during the murder trial for Davonte Benton. Even if she doesn’t feel that way.

Why is it So Important to Give Back
NNPA Newswire/BlackPressUSA
Oakland Post
By Richard Johnson
The Formerly Incarcerated Giving Back organization was my brainchild as I struggled in that dark cold dank cell at Pelican Bay State Prison reflecting on my life, wasting practically all of it, going against the grain so-to- speak. I concluded if given the opportunity to ever get out I would bring changes not only for myself but equally for the community that I so harmed.

The Path
As we walk through life's journey, we leave footprints. Some just show where we are going. Others redirect us when we get lost. Still others remain to guide those we leave behind. I see your footprints.
Will you/they see mine?
