Large Grant to Fuel Nearly 600 Demolitions
The Land Bank received $6.8 million in state funding to power the demolitions of 596 beyond-repair houses and buildings in Mahoning County.
Demolition Backlog Crumbles With New Grant
"With this round of funding, I don't think that we have a backlog anymore of housing that needs to be demolished," Debora Flora, executive director of the Land Bank, told WKBN-TV News recently. 
Open House to Showcase New Offices
Land Bank staff have scheduled an open house for Tuesday, Dec. 20, to show local stakeholders the agency's new offices in City Centre One. 
Seedings Support Pollinators on Land Bank Lots
Gary Davenport (left), Land Bank project coordinator, and Steven Brown (right), housing disposition manager, along with Elayne Bozick of the Rotary Club of Youngstown recently scattered milkweed pods and other native plant seeds over a Land Bank lot at East High and Landsdowne in the city. In addition to Milkweed, native plant seeds sewn recently on Land Bank lots have included Bundleflower, Black Eyed Susans, Joe Pye Weed, Ironweed and Anise Hyssop. The Land Bank and Rotary are supporters of Operation Pollination, which advances protection for pollinator species like the Monarch butterfly.
Flora Named VP of Ohio Land Bank Group
Debora Flora, executive director of the Land Bank, was recently elected vice president of the Ohio Land Bank Association, a statewide alliance of county land banks. Flora has been an association board member since 2019.
