Employee of the Year 2023
Employee of the Year 2023

2023's recipient of the City of Denison Employee of the Year award is Kirk Kern.

Kirk joined Team Denison in March of 1992. He began as a Street Laborer at that time. During his tenure at the City of Denison, he has served as a Sanitation Truck Driver, Equipment Operator II, Traffic Sign Technician, and a Rehabilitation Tech in our CDBG program.

In 2004, he joined the Information Technology Division where he has served in multiple roles from Application Tech to his current position of Senior IT Support Tech.

When nominating him for this award, his peers had this to share “he has an amazing attitude no matter what the job entails. The continuous need for his assistance with computers is demanding and he takes it in stride. He keeps a friendly, professional, and positive demeanor. He always seems to put forth his best effort. He is dependable and a great team member.”

Another co-worker said “I have seen him demonstrate our STACI values on a daily basis. He is very intelligent and does not give up until the problem is fixed. This last year has been very busy and stressful for the IT division, but his positivity has remained the same. The city needs 40 more of him.”

Congratulations, Kirk!
The Big Event
The Big Event 2024:
Volunteer & Project Submission Portals NOW OPEN!

The City of Denison is excited to host our first annual Big Event on March 23rd, 2024.

The Big Event is a community-wide day of service that originated at Texas A&M University.

It quickly spread to college campuses across the nation, and municipalities are beginning to join in on this impactful day.

In summary, residents and businesses in the City of Denison who might need a little assistance with outdoor projects (painting fences, yard clean up, gardening, repairs, etc.) will be able to apply to participate.

We will pair volunteer groups with those projects … and they will all be done on one day!

We are hopeful this event will be a huge success and bring our community together.
