Dear Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) Friends and Customers,

It may be a challenge to keep your mind and body active during this unprecedented time. Though our recreation centers are currently closed, DPR still wants to be a resource for your family's recreational needs. Denver Parks and Recreation @ Home provides free online programming with diverse options for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Beginning Monday, April 20, you will find fitness classes, games, art projects and more on DPR's Facebook , Instagram and YouTube pages, along with interactive Zoom classes. The familiar, friendly faces of DPR Instructors will be walking you through workouts and activities to keep your mind and body active. Keep reading to find details on schedules and how to join!

Facebook Live

Parent & Me: Music and Movement

Parent and Child can follow along singing songs, finger play, dance games, story time, art projects and more! Check the description every week to see what supplies at home you need to follow the craft, no supplies? No problem! For Ages 0-4, parent participation highly recommended.

Dance Class: Ballet Basics

Household Fitness Equipment Substitutes
There are many items around your house that can be used as equipment when performing workouts at home. Denver Parks and Recreation Fitness Instructor Natalie goes over different household items that can be substituted for commonly used pieces of equipment in our fitness classes while participating virtually.

Barre Express
Mondays, 9:30 - 10:15 am & Fridays, 1:00 - 1:45 pm | Zoom
This workout combines mat Pilates and resistance training to target all major and minor muscle groups in the body. Utilizing various props and light dumbbells, the class moves to the beat of the music to flow quickly between exercises.
Class may utilize the following equipment:

2. Small pilates ball (small stuffed animal, pillow, playground ball)
3. Glider disc (paper plate, towel)

This 30-minute cardio class alternates between intervals of high intensity cardiovascular exercises and body-weight resistance movements to achieve maximum performance in minimal time.

Cardio Kickboxing

This high-intensity, boxing-inspired, cardio workout combines athletic drills, combos, plyometrics, agility training, and resistance training. Choreographed to the beat of the music, it works every major and minor muscle group in the body.

Tape Games

Tape is one of the greatest inventions of all time. During this video, we will teach our participants all the games and activities we can play using tape.

Egg Drop Challenge

MY Denver and our viewers will attempt to tackle the infamous "Egg Drop Challenge". Using materials from around the house, we'll see if who can create the safest (and coolest) Egg Protection Device. The Egg Drop challenge is a highly-versatile activity that can be used to introduce students to physics.

SINK or FLOAT!

Citywide Resources
Food Services
Denver is also partnering with Denver Public Schools to ensure youth 18 and under continue to receive food assistance while schools are closed. DPS will offer free, grab-and-go-style breakfast and lunch to students at 11 school locations throughout the city. For times and locations, visit the DPS website:  www.dpsk12.org  . Anyone in need of food assistance benefits through the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can apply through  colorado.gov/peak

Donations
Businesses and residents that would like to donate items can drop off donations at the location below. Donations can be Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) which includes surgical mask, N-95 masks, hospital gowns, gloves, goggles, and homemade masks and hand sanitizer. Cleaning supplies such as disinfect wipes are also greatly appreciated.
