Valdamar Archuleta, candidate for Congress in Denver's 1st Congressional District, presents a comprehensive plan to improve the quality of life for Denver residents.

His primary focus includes reducing the cost of living by balancing the federal budget, ending wasteful government spending, and supporting local businesses. He is dedicated to creating a safer community by enforcing the law, securing the southern border, and supporting law enforcement. Valdamar also aims to end government corruption with term limits, transparency in legislation, and a prohibition on congressional insider trading.

His commitment to improved education involves giving families more options, empowering parents, and reducing federal oversight. Additionally, he advocates for government reformation by decreasing federal power, protecting constitutional rights, and focusing on the American people.

Valdamar Archuleta's vision is clear: a thriving, safe, and corruption-free Denver with a government that truly serves its people.

Candidate Spotlight - Tom Cowhick HD9

Tom Cowhick, Republican Candidate for State House District 9

Restore Balance and Reason

Tom Cowhick was born in Denver 71 years ago. He has lived in the Washington Park, South High School area. He has been married for 45 years and has four grown children. He has lived in the district for 39 years.

His career has revolved around the skills he learned first as a carpenter. Since then, every job has added to those skills as he ventured into sales, sales management, equipment manufacturing, and construction supervision.

He is deeply troubled by the runaway government on all fronts—local, statewide, and national. Tom wants to engage with his neighbors, the people of the district, to explore the results the party in power has delivered. The cascade of problems we are experiencing should serve as a sobering opportunity to examine what can and should be done about them.

Issues important to Tom are the safety and security, schools, and the economy.

Political News

Don't Make My Day

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Joseph M. Howell cannot claim immunity under the state's "Make My Day" law, as his victim was not within a "dwelling" when he was shot. The court determined that the concrete pad outside Howell's Denver apartment does not qualify as a part of the dwelling since it lacks walls, a roof, or a gate. The ruling stated that the "Make My Day" law's protections apply strictly to indoor spaces, not to open or unenclosed areas adjacent to the home.

Everett Organizes Milwaukee Convention

Justin Everett, former Jefferson County legislator and Trump Colorado Campaign director, is now organizing the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee as the Trump campaign consolidates efforts with the RNC. The unified operation between the Trump campaign and the RNC aims to mobilize resources and volunteers nationwide to secure a victory in November.

Homelessness Failures in Denver

Denver's open-door policy towards the homeless continues to fail, with the city's homeless population growing despite spending over $274 million from 2021 to 2024. In contrast, Colorado Springs and Aurora have successfully reduced their homeless populations by partnering with local nonprofits and employing comprehensive "treatment first" approaches. Denver's ineffective and costly policies highlight the need for a strategy that addresses the root causes of homelessness rather than simply providing temporary housing.

Legislative Landlord Lunacy

The 2024 legislative session in Colorado targeted landlords under the guise of protecting tenants. Short sighted legislation was exemplified by House Bill 24-1098, recently signed by Governor Polis. This law limits the reasons a landlord can use for evictions. It is based on anecdotal rather than analytical evidence and risks increasing rent and legal costs for landlords, which will ultimately be passed on to tenants. Instead of alleviating the housing crisis, this legislation exacerbates it, highlighting the lawmakers' disregard for basic economic principles.

Cuba's Security Stroll

In a startling move, the Biden administration granted communist Cuba access to sensitive TSA areas at Miami International Airport, sparking outrage among Cuban-Americans and local officials. This unprecedented tour, part of supposed "law enforcement cooperation," included viewing sensitive computer systems within TSA's control facilities. Critics argue this decision compromises national security by allowing officials from a state sponsor of terrorism, allied with adversaries like Iran and Russia, unprecedented access to advanced security technology.
