Strategic Planning
Save the dates: The Denville School District will be looking for community and staff members to take part in our new Five-Year Strategic Planning. Dates- November 14, 28 and December 12, 2022 all at 7:30 PM location TBA.

Have a terrific summer- we will send periodic updates over the summer.


Curriculum Corner
June is a month of celebrating freedom and civil rights. Two significant celebrations are Juneteenth and Pride Month. Take this opportunity to discuss these events with your children. See the book lists below to share the joy of literature with your family. 

Juneteenth 
The 19th of June is Juneteenth! Also known as Juneteenth Freedom or Emancipation Day, it commemorates the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the Confederate South. On June 19th, 1865 the Union soldiers brought the news to Texas that the war had ended, and all enslaved people were now free. Pride Month
Every year, during the month of June, the LGBTQIA2S+ community celebrates in a number of different ways. During Pride Month, various events are held across the globe as a way of recognizing the influence the LGBTQIA2S+ community has had around the world. June was chosen because it commemorates the Stonewall uprising of 1969. Pride Month celebrates the long-standing tradition that raises awareness, improves the attitudes of society, and encourages inclusivity.

2022 Persons of the Year

The Denville Public Schools, Denville Education Foundation and the Combined PTA of Denville are proud to announce the winners of the 5th annual Persons of the Year Award. Pictured left To right
  • Community Member of the Year- Judi Ingram, Former Foundation of Denville President and Founder
  • Student of the Year- Amanda Lascarro, Lakeview 5th Grade Student who started an anti-litter campaign for her school.
  • Staff Member of the Year- Lydia Stiles, Valleyview and town-wide green team member
 
Each award winner received a plaque and a $200 gift card to local businesses courtesy of the Denville Education Foundation and Combined PTA of Denville.

Spring 2022 Art Classes

Register for spring 2022 Art Classes taught by K-12 Art Educator Mary Shadbolt. Classes are available for K -12 and adults. Photography and sculpture are also available. Please click here for more information.
Morris County 4-H Fair

4-H summer fun! The Morris county 4-H fair will be held on July 21 - 24 at Chubb Park in Chester. Students can enter projects at the fair. Please click here for more information.
Tricky Tray and Band Beefsteak

The Joey Bella Memorial Fund is hosting two events in the fall. Good times for a great cause! The Tricky Tray will be held on September 9. Tickets are $15 which includes a sheet of tickets and refreshments. The Band Beefsteak will be on September 10 and is $70, featuring the Nerds. Please click here for more information.
Registration is Open for Eagles Ice Hockey
Be a part of the inaugural season of Eagles ice Hockey! There will be summer practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The regular season runs September through March. Please click here for more information.
Eagles/Knights Summer Sports Camps

Registration is open for the Eagles/Knights Soccer Camp and Multi Sport camp for the 2022 Summer. The camps will be held at Morris Knolls High School with full and half day options. Boys and girls ages 4 - 14 are invited. Please click here for more information.
NJ Children's Relief Fund

When your child's medical bills are too big to handle, we can help. The NJ Children's Relief Fund provides additional help to parents with medical bills. The funding is for any child, with any condition, and any income, this is not just for low income families. Click here for information.

Denville Schools Board Of Education Meeting

Board of Education Meeting Highlights:
1.       The Persons of the Year were awarded for 2022.
a.       Staff Member of the Year- Lydia Stiles, Valleyview and town-wide green team member
b.      Community Member of the Year- Judi Ingram, Former Foundation of Denville President and Founder
c.       Student of the Year- Amanda Lascarro, Lakeview 5th Grade Student who started an anti-litter campaign for her school.
2.       Congratulations to the Valleyview Middle School Athletics Department and the two championship teams for 2021-22
a.       Boys Soccer Coached by Mr. Shawn Plumb
b.      Girls Soccer Coached by Mr. Robert King
3.       Communications Consultant, Ms. Susan Marinello presented on the state of the district’s communications plan.
