What's Happening with Soul Journey In 2026

This year is shaping up to be a very busy year as the ministry of Soul Journey has continued to expand! Below is a summary of what has taken place this year and what is yet to come in 2026.

January: We launched our second Soul Journey cohort in India with 34 leaders. This is a unique cohort as it is being led by a team of graduates from our initial Soul Journey cohort. The Indian leadership team gave full leadership to the planning and launch of this cohort and taught half of the sessions. I continue to work with the leadership team by teaching some of the material they are not yet comfortable with and providing support and assistance as needed. We had an amazing time in this first retreat!

April: I leave for Taichung, Taiwan, on April 8th for Retreat Three: Wrestling. This cohort has truly become a close spiritual community as we have journeyed together for more than a year now. We are looking forward with great anticipation at what God will do among as we wrestle with issues of our own brokenness, spiritual formation in the darkness, and the role of suffering in our formation during our time together in April.

May: In May I leave on the 14th for our very first Soul Journey School of Spiritual Direction in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This inaugural cohort is comprised of Soul Journey Academy graduates from our cohorts in India and Thailand. Bill Zuelke, my spiritual director for many years, and the co-leader of our first India cohort, will join me to provide instruction for this cohort. Those who complete the school will be certified as spiritual directors, who will then be able to serve their communities through this important ministry. They will become some of the first evangelical certified spiritual directors in India and Southeast Asia.

July: In July I travel back to India for the second retreat with this cohort begun in January. This will be a challenging trip for me as I usually fly though Doha, Qatar, which at the present time has halted most international flights due to the Iran war. Pray that the war ends or that I can find alternative flights to India.

August: In August I head to Penang, Malaysia, for the launch of our first Malaysia cohort. This cohort is being co-sponsored by the Asia Member Care Network, with Florence Tan providing on-the-ground logistical and administrative support. This cohort would not be happening without her. Brian Buhler, the co-leader of our Taiwan cohort will join me in leading this cohort as well. We currently have 24 registered for this new cohort!

October: October will be a very busy month as I travel to Thailand for the second retreat of our School of Spiritual Direction and then straight to Taiwan for our final retreat with that cohort and their graduation from the Soul Journey Academy.

Recently we launched the Soul Journey Alumni Network for all graduates of the Soul Journey. This is an opportunity to network all of our graduates and provide them with ongoing resources and support. On the alumni website alumni can find all of the slide decks for each of the retreats, all the material for forming and leading triads, and templates for the student notebooks for each retreat. Also, we will keep alumni updated on all that is happening in Soul Journey. Additionally, we plan to provide a bi-annual in-person retreat for alumni as well as on-line spiritual formation opportunities at no charge. With nearly 100 graduates now, we thought it would be good to build this alumni community for ongoing support as they continue to serve the least reached with gospel throughout India and Southeast Asia.

Prayer Requests

• Please pray for each of the cohorts above, that God continues to knit us together, manifest His amazing love toward us, and that deep spiritual transformation continues to take place.
• Pray that I will be able to find a way to India in July
• Pray that God protects my health through all of these travels and ministry opportunities. Please pray also for Brian Buhler, Bill Zuelke, and Florence Tan. Pray for safe travel, good health and effective ministry.
• Pray for the ongoing planning for Soul Journey Malaysia as we make final preparations for this cohort.
