2022 California Building Standards Code Took Effect January 1, 2023


All projects submitted on or after January 1, 2023 are required to comply with the 2022 Edition of the California Building Standards Code, as amended by the City of Los Angeles.

LADBS Development Services Centers

Following the successful opening of the Metro, Van Nuys and San Pedro Development Service Centers, the West LA service center is now open! All in-person visits to any of the LADBS' service counters require an appointment.


Scheduling appointments is quick and easy!

*BuildLA Appointments can be made with the new **Angeleno Account, which provides secure and easy access to city services. To make an appointment with BuildLA, first register for an Angeleno Account to log in. For additional assistance with making an appointment with LADBS, call 311.


Customers visiting the LADBS service counters are highly encouraged to wear face coverings.


*The City’s BuildLA portal is a one-stop platform for Development Services, including the scheduling appointment system - using the Angeleno Account. **The Angeleno Account is a universal account that enables users to access online services for various City of LA departments. Users only need to create an Angeleno account once to use online services anytime, including setting up in-person appointments.

LADBS Tech Updates

To better assist our customers, this past quarter, the following enhancements to services were implemented:


  • ePermit was expanded to include the following types of permits: wet sandblasting; stair repair; damage repair; fire damage repair; replace prefab fireplace; replaster pool; siding; roof tiles; balcony/deck coating; roof coating; attic radiant barrier; block wall
  • LADBS updated the ePermit system to integrate with the BuildLA Appointment System, so if needed, e-permit users can schedule appointments with LADBS staff using the BuildLA Appointment System
  • ePlanLA was expanded to include: Grading Pre-Inspection, Sign Pre-Inspection, and Demolition Pre-Inspection

Building Decarbonization Support Services: Request for Proposals to provide research, analysis, data collection, and reporting services to develop a zero-carbon building regulatory framework and recommendations.
