$1.1 Million Grant Supporting the Launch of a Natural History Study for a Rare Neurodevelopmental Disorder
Dr. Zachary Grinspan was awarded $1.1M grant from the parent-caregiver-led Rare Bird Foundation on his study for a rare neurodevelopmental disorder that causes developmental delays and seizures called MEF2C Haploinsufficiency syndrome.

Dr. Nena Osorio has been recognized by the Board of Directors of the Academic Pediatrics Association (APA) for her extraordinary contributions to the Quality and Safety Improvement Scholars Program where she was responsible for revising and implementing new QSIS Curriculum, designing PAS in person sessions for the QSIS Scholars, executing successful cohort IV recruitment, reviewing applications; and working closely with the APA and QSIS Executive Committee.

Dr. Jaclyn Rosenzweig was a recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the Hyundai Hope on Wheels. Hyundai Hope on Wheels creates awareness for pediatric cancers and awards large grants to doctors and premiere research centers for life-saving research.

After the recent Senate hearing on vaccine injury, contact your members of Congress to express your strong, expert support for vaccines and the vital role they play in protecting public health. Senator Richard Blumenthal (CT) hosted a virtual press conference to counter vaccine misinformation and uplift voices of those impacted by vaccine-preventable diseases. Families shared powerful stories, reminding us of what’s at stake.

Dr. Miriam Samstein recently organized a Weed Walk, where allergists from across New York gathered in Central Park to explore local allergenic plants with a botanist. The event, hosted in collaboration with the NY Allergy and Asthma Society, included allergists from both private practice and academic institutions.

| | Dr. Jennifer Salant and the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) participated in a national multicenter collaboration with the goal of standardizing the assessment of patient/family experiences with pediatric palliative care consultation. The group demonstrated that assessment is feasible and informative, and that patients and families feel seen and understood by pediatric palliative care teams. | | | |

2025 Third Avenue Fair
The Third Avenue Fair takes place each September between 68th and 86th Streets, and provides a great opportunity for departments, centers & institutes to offer valuable information to community residents and visitors, while also promoting the services they provide. More than 200 faculty, staff and employees have participated in prior years, lining both sides of the street!

A huge shoutout to Michael Espinosa, an outstanding member of our Pediatric Cardiology team! We’re incredibly fortunate to have him with us. Despite facing physician shortages and increased patient demands, Michael remains dedicated to delivering exceptional care as a Senior Patient Coordinator. He works tirelessly to support patients and families while maintaining a positive attitude, even during the busiest and most stressful days. Michael has also taken on the responsibility of training new SPCs at Weill Cornell Medicine, setting a great example for those joining the role in other departments. His dedication and expertise are truly appreciated.
