Dr. Melody Zeng has been promoted to Associate Professor of Immunology in Pediatrics effective January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. This faculty promotion on the Pathway Recognizing Academic Achievement and Scholarship, with area of excellence in Investigation, acknowledges her as a nationally recognized independent investigator and major contributor to the field of mucosal and neonatal immunology, particularly in studying the role of microbiota in early life. Her commitment to education and mentoring is outstanding and her accomplishments bring distinction to Weill Cornell Medicine. | |
Dr. Corinne Catarozoli has been promoted to Associate Professor of Psychology in Clincial Pediatrics effective January 1, 2025. In her new role, she will oversee the development of research programs and clinical responsibilities for the Behavioral Health Integrated program. She will continue her role as Co-Director of Behavioral Health. Her commitment to children and adolescents with acute or chronic medical illness is admirable. We look forward to her future achievements at Weill Cornell Medicine. | |

January is Birth Defects Awareness Month
Every 4.5 minutes a baby is born with a condition that affects the structure or function of their body. Collectively, these conditions are referred to as birth defects. Making parents aware of the CMV vaccine is one method to help prevent the disease. Learn more on how you can join CDC to raise awareness about birth defects here!

Dr. Sallie Permar and Krithika Karthigeyan's paper entiteld "Human Cytomegalovirus mRNA-1647 Vaccine Candidate Elicits Potent and Broad Neutralization and Higher Antibody-Dependent Cellular Cytotoxicity Responses Than the gB/MF59 Vaccine" has been selected for inclusion in the "Best of the IDSA Journals 2024" collection. This collection showcases outstanding 2024 papers published in each of the IDSA journals (Clinical Infectious Diseases, The Journal of Infectious Diseases, and Open Forum Infectious Diseases) based on their usage, citations, and impact in the field.

Center for Sleep Medicine Relocation Update
The Center for Sleep Medicine in Upper East Side Manhattan practice will be relocating from 425 East 61st Street to 525 East 68th Street, 15 Floor of F Building effective February 24, 2025. Our patients will still receive the same all-encompassing care and services as a result of this change. On February 3, all patients who have not yet taken part in the sleep study will receive a blast announcement email regarding relocation.

Dr. Bernhard Kuhn presented at the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute Frontiers in Cardiovascular Science Seminar on January 28, 2025. The research aims to regenerate human hearts to meet the needs of both pediatric and adult patients suffering from heart disease.
