The R.M. Clayton Water Reclamation Center Instrumentation and Controls Reliability Restoration Project has earned a First Place Gold Award in the 2020 Associated General Contractors (AGC) Build Georgia Award Program. Winning projects represent the best the construction industry has to offer by both general contractors and specialty contractors. The 2020 AGC Gold Award is scheduled to be presented June 13, 2020 at the AGC Georgia annual convention. The winning projects will also be highlighted in the “Best of Construction” in the Atlanta Business Chronicle on June 12, 2020. The Utoy Creek Water Reclamation Center (WRC) was recognized during the 2020 Spring Conference by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) Award Program. Winning awards include: A Gold Award for the Wastewater Facility, an Excellence Award for the Biosolids/Residuals Program, and a Certificate of Achievement for Advance Treatment 10 MGD or Greater for calendar year 2019. Congratulations to the Office of Water Treatment and Reclamation, the Utoy Creek WRC Plant Manager Shane Meador and the staff.
The Hemphill Water Treatment Plant was also recognized by the GAWP. Winning awards include: A Gold Award for the Drinking Water Facility and a Certificate of Achievement for Surface Water 100 MGD and Over for calendar year 2019. Congratulations to the Office of Water Treatment and Reclamation, the Hemphill WTP Plant Manager Babatunde Kuku and staff.
The GAWP Water/Wastewater Gold Awards are presented to water and wastewater facilities that have had no permit violations for MCLs or no NPDES permit or pretreatment violations during the preceding calendar year.
The GAWP Biosolids/Residuals Program of Excellence award recognizes excellence in biosolids management and are graded on the excellence of: recycling or reuse of natural resources such as nutrients and organic matter found in biosolids or other sludges; demonstration of energy efficiency and/or cost effectiveness; demonstration of excellence in program/project management; and technical innovation in the management of biosolids residuals.
Annually the GAWP recognizes Municipal Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities that have been operated in an outstanding manner. This award is given to the best managed, best operated facilities in the state of Georgia. To win this award, not only is the score considered but all aspects of the facilities, such as safety, maintenance operations, documentation, lab operations and industrial monitoring.
