Honors Commissioner Kishia Powell
The  American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia - ACEC Georgia  released their annual 100 Influential Women in Georgia list. It is our pleasure to share that this year’s influential list features of City of Atlanta Mayor  Keisha Lance Bottoms and our very own Commissioner Kishia Powell. Congratulations to both and thank you for your leadership!

DWM Rocks with M. Agnes Jones Elementary –
an Atlanta STEM School
O n January 22, 2019, Watershed employees joined Water Supply Program partners in bringing geology up-close and personal for  M. Agnes Jones Elementary School  scholars. The team brought rocks from the reservoir at Bellwood Quarry to share with students. The 2.4 billion gallon reservoir is the cornerstone of DWM's innovative plan to secure the  City of Atlanta Government  water supply for the next 100 years.

DWM Commissioner Powell Participates in a Panel that Kicks Off the WEF Inflow Program
In 2018, DWM Commissioner Powell participated in a panel to kick-off the WEF Inflow program. The panel discussed driving diversity and inclusion in the water industry and how African Americans are currently the most underrepresented group of employees with respect to the percentage of the population who are pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

DWM Manager Bill Douty
DWM Manager Bill Douty was in the planning process to reconfigure the pond at Dean Rusk Park when he heard Marcus Quiqley, founder and CEO of Microsoft partner Opti , speak at a November 2017 meeting of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals . When Douty learned about the Microsoft Azure -powered platform that increases retention capacity, prevents flooding and reduces costs, he knew he had the solution for a significant stormwater management problem.
