JUNE 2020
June 9th is Primary Election Day in Atlanta
Look for the MOST on the ballot
The MOST is a 1-cent sales tax applied to generally all retail sales of goods purchased and taxable services performed within the City. It is one tool the City uses to finance the federally mandated Consent Decrees (Clean Water Atlanta Program) to replace the City’s aging water and sewer infrastructure and improve water quality while keeping water and sewer rates lower than they would be otherwise.

This not a new tax; it is reauthorizing the existing 1-cent tax

The City estimates that the MOST has helped to stave off a 25% increase in water and sewer rates. The MOST makes sense for our City. Since 2004, the MOST has generated more than $1.876 billion to help ensure Atlantans a future of clean, safe drinking water and environmentally sound wastewater treatment.

Don’t Be A Victim
Sunny skies and warm temperatures will undoubtedly be calling on Atlantans to leave their homes and hit the road to good times this summer. Rest assured, it also brings opportunistic criminals outside to see what they can take from’ unsuspecting victims. Auto thefts and car break-ins can ruin any outdoor adventure – but many of these crimes are easily preventable. Slider crimes are a type of crime that occur quickly when thieves “slide” into the cars of distracted drivers who may be pumping gas or leave their car unlocked while going into a convenience store. APD asks that when you stop to get gas or make a quick stop at the ATM for your road trip, lock your car door, take your keys with you and pay attention to your surroundings. Leaving your car unlocked or leaving your keys in the car and not being aware of your surroundings is a sure way to become a victim. If you see something suspicious, call or text 9-1-1. Together we can keep the city safer and get criminals off the streets.
