Final Week of Camp For the Books!
We had an AMAZING summer over here at CAN! As the summer winds down, we are making final preparations for our Back to School Events that begin tomorrow, collecting the last of the school supplies to go to our sites, and gearing up for school and Afterschool Program to begin! Of course, we are also reminiscing on the best final week of camp we could have asked for, which included performances by our campers, and a Field Day where all 6 camps came together to have fun and even watch CAN's Executive Director go in the dunk tank!
CAN's First Field Day!
Other exciting components of CAN's field day included face painting, crafts, TWO bounce houses, games, races, lunch, and of course, ice cream! Shoutout to our Director of CAN Art & Design, Keegan, for planning the wonderful event!
Yes, you read that right! CAN's Executive Director, Derrick, was so gracious to give campers the opportunity to throw a ball sending him into the dunk tank! It was a HOT day, so we didn't feel too bad as the water looked quite refreshing! CAN Director of Bryant Educational Programs, Mchael, also let the kids drench him in the tank. Thanks Derrick and Michael for taking one for the team!
The Grand Finale
As you probably already know, this year's summer camp theme was CAN Bands Together, and it was all about music and performance! So, to end a wonderful summer, each of our camps put on performances that they worked all summer to prepare for! They worked hard coming up with their routines, practicing, even designing backdrops and costumes.
If you have about 15 minutes, we would recommend watching the show from our Hikone Camp - they rocked it! Click the video or go to this link: https://vimeo.com/998298659
Almost Ready for Back-to-School!
You all have blown us away with your generosity and support for CAN's 2024 Back to School Drive! As of now we have just under 200 backpacks filled with supplies going out to sites as you read this! We have just a few items left on our Amazon wishlist if you are still interested in donating before our last event on Aug. 23.
We couldn't thank you enough for the kind contributions to the education of our CAN students!
We also want to say a huge thank you to our friends at First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor for spending a morning with us to pack all the backpacks so they were ready to be picked up by our staff and go out to sites! It was such a huge help to us!
