The preliminary design/sketch of the Court of Honor and Courtyard of Honor in Chocolate Town Park was presented to the Board of Supervisors at the meeting on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The Court of Honor aims to memorialize Derry Township residents, both Hershey and Milton Hershey, who served in the military during periods of armed conflict, while the Courtyard of Honor aims to honor first responders who have guarded our safety and security at home. The Board of Supervisors collectively agreed to the Proclamation for the observance of Arbor Day in Derry Township on Friday, April 28, 2023.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) began its 2023 Black Fly Suppression Program this week. The program involves aerial and backpack spraying on roughly 1,800 stream miles in 37 counties of the Commonwealth. Click here, to read the details of this program.

It was announced at Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting that there would be a lift on the Hershey West End HOP's/ Waltonville Road's current construction closure. The anticipated detour will be lifted by July 4, 2023.

The Township of Derry Department of Parks and Recreation will be holding its Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Bullfrog Valley Pond. Come out and take your chance at catching one of the over 500 trout! This event is open to anglers up to 12 years of age and registration is not required. Prizes will be awarded for palomino trout, longest trout, and heaviest trout. A raffle will be held at the end of the derby for an assortment of prizes donated by the Hershey-Hummelstown Kiwanis and Bass Pro Shops. Nyes Road, Harrisburg, Penn State Health Medical Group – Palmyra, 941 Park Drive, Palmyra. In addition to medication, needles, and syringes will be accepted.
