Derry Township Youth Fishing Contest
The Township of Derry Department of Parks & Recreation will be holding a youth fishing contest at Bullfrog Valley Pond. This contest is open to anglers ages 12 and under. Registration is not required.
The pond will be stocked with trout sometime during the week of April 26th (the exact day is weather dependent).

The stocking announcement will be made on the Derry Township Parks & Recreation Facebook page and on the Parks & Recreation page at derrytownship.org.
After the stocking announcement is posted, anglers ages 12 and under will have 7 days to attempt to catch the largest trout.

Anglers of other ages may fish during this time, but they are not eligible for the contest.
In order to compete, anglers will need to submit a photo of their catch at the official measuring station at Bullfrog Valley Pond (near the gazebo).

The photo will need to clearly show the measurements of the trout and be emailed to fishingcontest@derrytownship.org along with the child’s name, age, address, and phone number.
A grand prize will be awarded to the top angler!
Please follow all CDC and Department of Health Guidelines while participating. Good luck!

For more information, please contact the Township of Derry Department of Parks & Recreation at (717) 533-7138.
Arbor Day Proclamation
As part of the criteria needed to meet the requirements to be granted Tree City, USA status each year, the elected body of the Municipality must pass a proclamation establishing a day of Arbor Day observance within the Municipality.

For over twenty-five (25) years, the Township has applied for the National Arbor Day Foundation for Tree City, USA status. The Township has been successful in obtaining this status due in part to the commitment of the staff and Board of Supervisors to preserve the urban forest and beautify Derry Township.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously passed this proclamation and there will be a tree planting project taking place on the last Friday of April (weather depending).
Derry Township Community Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report Released
Greenhouse gas emissions from human activity are profoundly impacting climate change in our world and Derry Township is no exception. That’s why the Derry Township Climate Change Advisory Committee (CCAC) put together a report on the current situation in our community and what you can do to help be a part of the solution.

The Derry Township CCAC is a group of citizen-volunteers who inform the Board of Supervisors on matters of Township planning that impact our community’s ability to adapt to and mitigate the negative consequences of climate change. The CCAC also works in conjunction with other community groups on projects that support the health and well-being of all that live in, work in, and visit Derry Township.

The content of these different styles of music was and is still a way for people to connect with their audience while having fun. The Q&A afterwards is always energetic and full of positive energy. Kids leave with a better understanding of the origins of where their favorite music comes from, and often results in a newfound interest to learn to play a musical instrument.
