Board of Supervisors Meeting Available

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors held its regular meeting Tuesday, November 22nd at 7:00 pm.

We would like the public to be aware that the meeting of the Derry Township Board of Supervisors scheduled on Tuesday, December 20th at 7:00 pm, has been canceled.

New Derry Township Police Officer

At the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, Chairman Chris Abruzzo, alongside the Board of Supervisors, swore in the newest Derry Township Police Officer, Kody Ierley.

Derry Township FY2023 Budget

The Board of Supervisors adopted the annual operating FY2023 Budget for the following fiscal year prior to December 31, 2022. The Supervisors approved the advertisement of the Proposed FY2023 Budget at its November 15, 2022, Budget Hearing. The budget has been on public display for Twenty (20) days in accordance with Section 3205(b) of the Pennsylvania Second Class Township Code. To view the FY2023 Budget highlights, click this link.

Hershey Public Library - FINE FREE!

The Hershey Public Library is excited to announce that, as of December 6, 2022, regular fines have been eliminated at the library. The library is excited to be following the practice of many libraries around the country and removing this potential barrier to library services. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Derry, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, that resumés and cover letters will be accepted for positions on the following Boards:

  •  Board of Library Directors
  • Downtown Core Design Board
  • Derry Township Municipal Authority
  • Planning Commission
  • Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
  • Shade Tree Commission
  • Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board
  • Zoning Hearing Board 

Residents of Derry Township who are interested in serving on any of the above boards are requested to submit a letter of interest and a resumé to the Township of Derry, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA 17033, no later than December 12, 2022. Appointments will be made in person at the Reorganization Meeting on January 3, 2023,

at 7:00 pm, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey.

Holiday Wreaths with Andrea Beitzel

Avoid the mall and shop for family, friends, or yourself and browse specially priced puzzles, games, hardback fiction, and some children's items. Items will be individually priced, and payment will be made at the front desk - cash, check or credit. Proceeds benefit library programming.

We will use assorted citrus, apples, cinnamon sticks, flowers, berries and cones on a mixed bed of fresh greens for the perfect holiday look. Each wreath is $40 and can be paid in cash the day of the event or via Paypal Register online.

Derry Township Community Cats Clinic

Derry Township Community Cats provides trap, neuter, vaccinate and return services for township residents assisting free-roaming cats in our community. The next clinic is on December 13. Reservations can be made by leaving a message on the 'cat line' at 717-592-8087. We also need a volunteer to help publicize our clinics, events, and fundraising. 2022 Holiday Show

It's time for Hershey Figure Skating Club's annual Holiday Show! As always, free admission and free parking at the fabulous GIANT Center! The show starts at 6:30 pm; spectators are free to arrive and depart as needed.

This year, we will be collecting for Toys for Tots so please bring a new toy along and enjoy the area's best figure skating talent under one (GIANT) roof!

Hershey Figure Skating Club

Hershey Figure Skating Club is offering 6-week learn-to-skate classes this winter. Our learn to skate programs teach the FUNdamentals of ice skating and provide the best foundation for figure skating, ice hockey, and speedskating. With six progressive levels, skaters will be able to confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating. We also offer ice hockey instruction; taught without a puck, skaters learn the proper skating techniques for the game and how to be more proficient and agile on the ice! All classes are taught in a positive, FUN, and social environment! Family Learn to Skate classes are for skaters of all ages and all abilities and are held Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm at the GIANT Center and Thursday evenings at 6:00pm at the Hersheypark Arena.  Therapeutic & Adaptive Skating classes are designed for those of all ages with special and physical needs and are held Thursday evenings at 5:00 pm.  Discounts are available for subsequent family members!
