Hershey All Things Diversity Series Speaker Dr. Ali Michael Provides an Understanding of Micro-Aggressions
Dr. Ali Michael was the presenter at the January 23, 2019 Hershey All Things Diversity Session held at the Hershey Story Museum. Michael, an educator and author, is addressing micro-aggressions and is working to create an understanding to help change racial and social injustice.

Department of Public Works to Hire Seasonal Laborers
The Township of Derry Public Works Department will be hiring seasonal laborers for positions that will begin in March and last through December. The work will consist of grounds and parks maintenance and leaf collection for approximately 35 hours a week. 

The hourly wage is $14.35. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a current PA Driver’s License. Please apply at the Derry Township Public Works Facility, 650 Clearwater Road, Hershey. Call 533-2057, option 4, for more information.

Meet for a Movie at the Library
The Friends of the Hershey Public Library
Winter Film Festival will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.
 
The theme for this year's festival is "Based on the Book." This week's movie is The Birds ( PG13).

Registration is not required. Everyone is welcome and the Friends will provide snacks!

Take on a New Role in Dungeons & Dragons
Go on a Dungeons & Dragons adventure at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue, on
Friday, February 1 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to register for fun gameplay and camaraderie.
Feel Healthier in 2019
Monday, February 4, medical students from Penn State College of Medicine will be at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. to provide you with information on how to feel and be healthier.

The presentation will include tips on exercise, a nutritious diet, reducing drinking, and smoking cessation to help you to maintain behaviors that contribute to your overall good health.
Hershey Public Library to Help with Your Job Search
A Job Search Pop Up Class will be held on Tuesday, February 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.

The staff at the reference desk will help you with your career search, test preparation, and job applications. They will introduce you to resources to help you to brush up your resume and interview skills and discover a new career path suited to your interests and experience.

No appointment is necessary; just drop in between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
Grade School Students to Have Fun with Science with High School Students
Art in Science was cancelled because of the weather and was rescheduled to Tuesday, February 5 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Students from Hershey High School's Chem-Med Club will lead students in grades 3-5 through fun science activities. Participants must sign and have a parent/guardian sign a safety form  to bring with you to the program.

Learn how to create colorful snowflakes and how to transform nail polish into beautiful art. Participants will take home a pamphlet with reading recommendations that are available at the library and ideas for experiments that you can do at home.

Hershey Area Playhouse Presents Dearly Departed
Hershey Area Playhouse is proud to present the first main stage show of its 20th Anniversary Season, Dearly Departed , a comedy by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones.
In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpins' other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion.

Experience the history of Dearly Departed , running February 7-10 and 14-17. Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 2:00 p.m.

Let's Talk About the Weather with Ethan Huston
The Hershey Area Neighbors and Newcomers Club (HANNC) invites you to their meeting on Thursday, February 14 at 9:45 a.m.

The guest speaker will be award-winning meteorologist  and member of the WGAL News 8 Storm Team Ethan Huston.

The meeting will be held at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.
