Board of Supervisors Meeting Available

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors held its regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 7:00 pm.

President's Day Holiday

The Township Administration office and Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, February 19, 2024,

In observance of President's Day.

2024 Occupation Tax Bills

Keystone Collections Group acknowledges that several residents have received occupation tax bills in error, which has caused frustration and inconvenience. The company has sent retraction letters to the affected residents and advises them to contact Keystone Collections Group directly if they have any personal issues. Residents can contact the company by calling 724-978-0300 or toll-free 866-539-1100 or by visiting their website for more information. Keystone Collections Group will keep the residents informed about any further developments and progress made in this matter. The company thanks the residents for their patience and understanding.

WM - President's Day Holiday and Trash/Recycling Pickup Service

Residents, please know that the President's Day holiday will not affect the WM trash/recycling pickup service. Your trash/recycling pickup service will run on schedule.

Waste Management - Recycling

Waste Management would like to share educational materials about recycling with our residents. They would like to provide resources that make it easy to recycle. This resource will cover everything from what can and cannot be recycled to tips for reducing waste. We hope you find this resource helpful and encourage you to continue making sustainable choices. We wanted to share a helpful tool provided by Penn Dot that guides you on using a roundabout. Roundabouts can be confusing for some, but they are designed to improve traffic flow and safety. Opening at 12:00 pm

Out of an abundance of caution, the Hershey Public Library will open at 12pm on Saturday, February 17. Please check our website or call (717-533-6555) for further updates. The craft exchange will be open to ticket holders from 12pm - 1pm. From 1pm until the materials are gone, the community is welcome to browse items not claimed by ticket holders.

Please make sure to bring your own bag!.

Parks & Recreation Programs & Happenings

Opening at 12:00 pm

Due to the impending winter weather, the Derry Township Community Center will open at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 17th. 

Shank Park Closed

We want to notify our visitors and residents that Shank Park will remain closed from February 12th for approximately two weeks. The closure is due to a culvert replacement under the entrance driveway and PPL work that needs to be carried out to ensure the safety of our visitors. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage our visitors to explore other nearby parks during this time. We will continue to provide updates involving any changes to the work schedule. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

WaterTots

Begins Mid-February


WaterTots is a parent/child class for children ages 9 months to 3 years designed to provide experience and activities to acclimate children to the aquatic environment through songs and games while continuing reinforcement of basic skills, such as

stomach and back positions, kicking, and breath control. The goal of this class is to increase the child's comfort level in the aquatic environment and begin working with an instructor. Winter classes are forming now with Next Generation Yoga® with Cindy Lesher! The classes are a style of Yoga that, on the outside, might seem like play but have a definite purpose. They follow the same sequence as adult Yoga, incorporating traditional yoga poses, breathing exercises, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, creative elements of movement, learning points, visualization, sensory integration, and fun stuff. Manada Conservancy: Woodland Vernal Ponds

February 22, 7:00 pm


Manada Conservancy offers a free education program on vernal ponds and amphibians on February 22, 2024, at 7:00 pm at the Hershey Gardens Conservatory at 170 Hotel Road. The program will be led by Gene Wingert, an Environmental Science instructor at Dickinson College, who will take attendees through the ecology of a vernal pond over a year and explore the migrations and breeding behaviors of amphibians that use these particular wetlands. This is a unique opportunity to learn from an expert in the field and gain a deeper understanding of vernal ponds' vital role in our ecosystem. Click here for registration information.

Penn State Health: Educational Event

Penn State Health is hosting a free educational event: Take back control over urinary incontinence and overactive bladder. Led by Penn State Health urologist Dr. Adrian Sosenko, the event is on Saturday, March 9, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Penn State Health Specialty Services at 429 N. 21st Street in Camp Hill. Dr. Sosenko will discuss behavioral therapies, lifestyle changes, pelvic floor exercises, medications and injections, nerve stimulation, and surgical options. Derry Township Community Cats

Wednesday, March 10th


Derry Township Community Cats will offer residents a free TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) clinic on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. This clinic is designed to help control the cat population in the area. Derry Township Community Cats will also offer future clinics on April 10, May 8, and June 12. If you have any questions about the clinics or the TNVR program, please don't hesitate to contact them by phone at 717-592-8087, by email, or through their website. We hope to see you at the clinic!
