Community Member Survey

Penn State Health wants to understand and address the health needs of the communities we serve. We need your input so we can develop community programs to help you.
You may be facing additional issues during COVID-19 but we hope you will complete this survey based on your overall health needs.

Religious Diversity in Our Community Session
|
Community members joined the Hershey Area All Things Diversity online event this week to learn about different religions and how to understand and appreciate our differences. The speaker, Dr. Jeffrey Long of Elizabethtown College, offered information and insights to help increase respect and build a better sense of community.

Connect for Your Health: Evaluating Online Health Information
|
Saturday, January 16 - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Presented by Librarians from PennState Health Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, this virtual workshop will assist participants with evaluating health information they find online. It will teach them what questions to ask when evaluating an online source. This includes looking for signs of trustworthiness and signs of non-authoritative and potentially harmful information. Please register online. This program is made possible by a grant from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. If you need a laptop and/or hotspot to participate in this program you can check them out at the library. Please register for the program prior to requesting the laptop and/or hotspot.

Walk-ins might have to wait if there are appointments at that time. Masks are required. Covid-19 Antibody Covid-19 Antibody Testing is available with each successful blood donation. A form of ID is required to donate.

Food Fight for Immune Health

Register online to join The GIANT Company Nutritionist, Shanna Shultz, for a virtual crash course on building up your immune system with the power of food. She’ll discuss key elements to include into your diet while showcasing a recipe that could provide you with an added boost this season.

Connect for Your Health: MedlinePlus for Online Health Information

Saturday, January 23 - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Pennsylvania Master Naturalist program opens registration
|
A Pennsylvania Master Naturalist is an individual with a passion for the natural world who participates in an intensive training program and uses his or her knowledge by giving back to the community through volunteer service. This year-round program has three components: an initial volunteer training course, volunteer service hours, and advanced training classes.
Spring training begins on April 1 and will run 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through June 17. There also will be four field sessions scheduled on Saturdays. Application deadline is Feb. 1, but a discounted application fee is applied to all applications received by Jan. 15.

Cocoa Packs is excited to announce that they will once again be a distribution site for round 5 of the USDA Food Boxes. Those in need may stop by our drive thru on Monday’s & Wednesday’s anytime from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at 500 Homestead Rd in Hershey beginning February 1st through April 28th.

First United Methodist Church invites you to love your neighbors by donating items at their “Pop-Up Community Drive” on Saturday, January 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Donations can be made at 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, PA 17033 - First UMC upper parking lot with drive-through donations drop-off via alley (rear of church).
Pop-Up Community Drive Collections:

Hershey Food Bank: Collection of non-perishable food items: tuna, canned meats, baked beans, canned peas, peanut butter, canned pasta sauce (no glass jars, please), laundry detergent, bars of soap, toilet paper, paper towels, sanitizing wipes.

Bethesda Mission: Collection of items for the homeless: blankets, warm socks, winter gloves, winter clothes, deodorant and other toiletries.
