Board of Supervisors to Meet Virtually on July 14
The public is invited to attend the next Derry Township Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, July 14th at 7 p.m. The agenda will be posted on the Township website later today. For instructions on how to join the virtual call, please  visit our website .
Tax Collection Board Vacancy
Notice is given that the Township of Derry Tax Collection Association is seeking interested citizens to fill vacant positions on the Township of Derry Tax Collection Board. Individuals seeking to serve must be willing to commit to a 3-year term; have an ability to operate as a member of the team, attend monthly Board meetings; be over 18 years of age as well as a resident of Derry Township, Dauphin County. Interested individuals are requested to submit a cover letter and resume to the Township of Derry Tax Collection Association 610 Clearwater Rd Hershey PA 17033 no later than July 15, 2020.

Greater Hershey Regional Transportation Plan
The Greater Hershey Regional Transportation Study DRAFT is available for public review at the following location: Eric Stump from HRG will be making a presentation on the report at the July 28 Board of Supervisors meeting.

Any comments or questions on the report, recommendations, maps or exhibits should be directed to Alyx Gallagher, HRG, via email at We request any comments or feedback by Friday August 7, 2020. Upon receipt of comments, HRG will evaluate them, update the plan as required, and distribute a Final Report by August 31, 2020.
PPL Project Update
Our team spent the last several months performing construction on the remainder of the line and completing restoration along Homestead Road and Derry Township School property. Township Events
Market on Chocolate
The Fourth of July is a special time to visit Market on Chocolate. Over two dozen vendors will be on hand, and special musical guests  Emmanuel Nsingani and Momo Baz  will provide music throughout the day, culminating with a very special rendition of the National Anthem.

Several artisan vendors will highlight their work with patriotic specials and wares. Baked goods and farm fresh items, including beef, will be available, making Market on Chocolate a must-visit for picnic preparations.  

While you're shopping, you can also snack on sandwiches, smoothies, and cookie dough. Market on Chocolate will have it's regular hours and be open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. See you then!

The Hershey Figure Skating Club is holding ice skating camp this summer - July 13-17 and July 27-31 - Full day and half day options available. Registration is open at

Friends of the Hershey Public Library is Having a Read-a-thon!
Since the Friends are unable to hold the annual Book Sale at the Hershey Public Library this year, please join in raising funds for this vital and active organization that provides support and funding for many library programs and activities by registering for the Read-a-thon. All ages are welcome to participate. 

Your donations will help pay for:
  • Year-round programming for children and adults
  • Children’s and adult reading programs
  • Film Festivals
  • National Library Week author visit

A Summer Read - Transforming Health Launches 2020 Summer Read
Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant will be featured as the 8th annual Summer Read. Option B combine stories, research, and practical advice to help you build strength for life’s challenges—and help your family and community do the same. Copies available at the library . This year’s selection is an extension of Transforming Health’s “Here with You” campaign designed to support communities in Central Pennsylvania during and after the COVID-19 health crisis. The Summer Read project is a community partnership of WITF’s Transforming Health, Aligning Forces for Quality- South Central PA and Central PA library systems with additional support from WellSpan Health and Capital BlueCross. Drawing in Perspective for Beginners
Tuesday, July 14 and 21 - 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join Marie Gamon of the Hershey Area Art Association (HAAA) for a virtual art class on Zoom as she walks you through drawing in perspective. We will practice the basics of Linear Perspective....the Framework of your painting/drawing. We will tackle perspective from one-and-two-point perspective, and worm's eye to bird's eye views. We will practice making the windows on your building look like they belong there! Whether you like to be exactly realistic, mildly abstract or somewhere in between this will be a great tool to make your work POP! Register by July 12 at 5 p.m. at
Kit's Interactive Theatre: Cinderella's Fairy Godmother
Tuesday, July 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The story begins on Cinderella’s wedding day. She and her Fairy Godmother realize they must solve a riddle before Cinderella can marry the Prince. Kitty Jones of Kit’s Interactive Theatre combines history, dance, music, improvisation, and a great deal of humor in her educational shows. Her program is smart and inspiring, and with audience members as the cast, a boatload of fun! Notice to AARP Smart Drivers who need the 4 hour refresher between now and January 2021
The National office of AARP Smart Driver Safety has extended cancellation of all their in-person courses until the end of this year. For those persons who need to do the refresher to keep their insurance discount in effect, you can take the course on line with a 25% discount off the on-line course fee.
