Sandhill Road to Close
Sandhill Road will be closed Wednesday, August 1 through Saturday, August 4 for Mariner East construction activities.

Pullback of the pipe will necessitate the closure from Roush Road to Roundtop Road. Traffic will be detoured to Waltonville Road.
Driving Safely
The most important thing that you can do behind the wheel is to always wear a seatbelt. The National Safety Council reports that of those killed in motor vehicle accidents in 2016, 48% were not wearing a seatbelt.

The second most important thing to do is to stay focused. Do not be distracted by phones, others in the car, or even your own thoughts.

Many accidents can be avoided if we practice safe driving. Take a moment to review the following tips provided by the National Safety Council:

Give Blood at the Hershey Public Library
The Hershey Public Library will hold a blood drive on Monday, July 23 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., 701 Cocoa Avenue. Please donate. No appointment is needed.

Donors must bring ID and have eaten at least fours prior donating. The July drive collected 26 units of blood. Let's see if we can beat that number!
Cardboard Boat Races POOL PARTY
Don't miss all the excitement at Family Fun Fridays at the Hershey Recreation Center, 605 Cocoa Avenue, today. Make and race a boat! Teams will construct a boat out of cardboard and duct tape. The party starts at 2:00 p.m.

Daily fees are $7.00 for adults ($14 for nonresidents), $6.00 for children ages 5 to 11 ($10.00 for nonresident), Children 4 and under are free. 
American Dance
From Africa to Broadway
The Hershey Public Library presents a family program from a highly entertaining and informative perspective on American history on Tuesday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m., 701 Cocoa Avenue. 

Explore how American dance evolved from its African roots and European influences. Two versatile performers from the Okra Dance Company take you from classical court dances and the Irish reel, to vaudeville, tap, and even the cultural impact of Michael Jackson. 

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Hershey Public Library. Registration is not required. The program is suitable for children in grades K-5. 
Children's Attraction Comes to Market
This Saturday's Market on Chocolate will bring loads of laughs and giggles as children hop around the bounce house. Bring your little ones to jump in the house, participate in children's activities, and enjoy a tasty treat!

If you've gotten used to grocery store produce, and canned and frozen vegetables, wake up your taste buds with the freshest, home-grown fruits and vegetables from local farms. You won't believe their delicious, juicy flavors.

The farm vendors will also offer meats and flowers. Stop by C alicutts Spice Co. in Downtown Hershey for a spice blend to make your market meal company worthy! Just don't forget the flowers for your centerpiece!

Township Meetings and Events Calendar 

Yard Waste Collection is July 23-27
Yard waste will be collected next week.

An unlimited amount of wood and yard waste will be collected curbside and should be placed at the curb by 5:00 a.m. Items must be in a container no bigger than 32 gallons or in a “Kraft” bag no heavier than 50 lbs. Branches and tree limbs must not exceed 3″ in diameter, must be cut to 4′ in length, bundled and secured by rope or twine and must not be heavier than 50 lbs.

Grass clippings are NOT to be collected under this program and are to be treated as solid waste. Call Waste Management at 1-800-634-4595 for additional information.

Friends Summer Film Festival Features The Jungle Book
Friends Summer Film Festival: Animal Favorites will be held on Sunday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m., at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.  The Jungle Book is rated PG.

Everyone is welcome to relax at the library and watch the family classic movie. Snacks are provided by the Friends of the Library. Registration is not required. 
Chess Club
Saturday, July 21, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Join the Chess Club for a fun afternoon of chess. No registration is required. Beginners are welcome.
STEAM for Teens Stacks Stones
Kids in grade 6 and up, come spend a fun hour exercising your mental muscles with a STEAM challenge on Wednesday, July 25 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue. 

Explore the culture/art of stacking stones, cairns, or inuksuk, and then create your own.
It's Play Time
Play Day for Families  will be held on Friday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.

Families with pre-school aged children (3-5 years old) are invited to come to the library for an hour of free play at various learning stations which encourage children and their adults to engage in the five practices of Early Literacy: talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing.

Go to See the Musical Comedy Once Upon a Mattress This Weekend
Hershey Area Playhouse will present  Once Upon a Mattress , an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

The show runs again July 26-29. Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are $23 for teens/adults and $20 for those ages 12 and under. Tickets are available at , or by calling the Playhouse's box office at 717-533-8525.
