Options Presented on the New Community Center
The Derry Township Board of Supervisors were presented with four options for the new Hershey Community Center at the June 11, 2019 meeting.

Since the bid opening in April that resulted in a cost prohibitive project, a team from the Township has been working with Jim Bogrette of Kimmel Bogrette and construction manager Gregg Koussis to review the Center for all possible cost reductions with the least impact on programming.

Some of the changes include changing the Center to one floor and eliminating the elevators, some stairs, and the basement, relocating the track around the gymnasium, and decreasing the size of the café, lobby, and indoor water area.

A following is a description and costs for each:

Option A - 84,000 S.F. to include a 35 M competition pool, outdoor pool, and leisure pool - $31,592,000

Option B - 81,000 S.F. to include a 25 M competition pool, outdoor pool, and leisure pool - $30,190,250

Option C - 68,000 S.F. to include a 25 M competition pool and outdoor pool - $27,455,000

Option D - 61,500 S.F. to include an outdoor pool and leisure pool - $25,559,750

The Board anticipates further discussions in the coming weeks following the receipt of the review and recommendations from consultants Sports Facilities Advisory.
