Derry Township Community Center-
OPENING JUNE 13TH!
|
The new Derry Township Community Center celebrated its opening with a Ribbon Cutting on June 13, 2022, at 10:00 am. It was to celebrate their opening and the conclusion of the multi-million-dollar project. The planning of this project started in 2015 and now has concluded with the opening of the community center. Board of Supervisors, residents, taxpayers, donors, contributors, media, and elected officials were in attendance, click this link for more details. Moving forward we are aware of some things that need attention and are in the process of addressing, such as:
- Competition railing
- Outdoor pool chairs (will be here by next season, however, in the mean time, please bring your own chair)
- Floor surfacing at the Leisure pool area.

CALEA Award
|
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement's major executive associations. The award was presented to Lieutenant Tim Roche and Tax Office, Accreditation Manger, Julia Shirk at the Tuesdays, June 14, 2022, Board of Supervisors meeting. The CALEA award presented was the 9th reaccreditation award and is an Advanced Award of Law Enforcement Accreditation with Meritorious status for being accredited for 15 or more continuous years. 2022 Township Milling & Paving Program
|
We wanted to inform residents the Milling of roadways will start on Monday, June 20h, and continue through the week. All work is dependent on weather conditions. Traffic will be maintained on all roads as work proceeds though there may be delays due to
single-lane work zones.
These roads include:
- Roush Rd. from Waltonville Road to Shopes Church Road
- Sandhill Road from Roush Road to Nye Road
- Sandhill Road from Forrest Avenue to Cherry Drive
- Tice Road
- Yorktowne Road
- The 800, 900 & 1000 blocks of Areba Avenue

A time for pre-walking babies (birth-12 months) and parents/caregivers to share in songs, simple stories, nursery rhymes, and action plays. Each program lasts 15-20 minutes. This summer, we will be meeting under the trees between the library and the Antique Barn, weather permitting. Feel free to bring blankets or towels to sit on. In case of inclement weather, we will meet in the Storytime Room.

Walking Hershey is a walking group that will meet in a different spot around Hershey every week and walk for about an hour. Please bring a towel for stretching and light ab workout. If you wish to bring a dog, please make sure you are prepared to clean up any "business" they may conduct. This week: Meet at the Library

Kit's Interactive Theatre: Grace the Pirate

The program combines history, music, dance and improvisation where audience members are cast right into the show! Self-defense situations happen without warning. Prepare yourself by learning what to do before, during, and after an assault. The Derry Township Community Center is partnering with the Palmyra Kung Fu Center to offer a Women's Self-Defense seminar.

This low-impact instructor-led class will focus on walking with the water’s natural resistance and stretching for participants looking to transition into aquatic exercise or an alternative to their high-impact exercise routine.

This shallow water aquatic exercise class consists of a warmup and warm down encompassing an energetic cardio fitness workout using aqua resistance and music to keep participants moving.

Tuesdays, 5:30 - 6:15 pm in the Competition Pool. Our AquaPower class is designed for participants who are looking for a challenging water workout! Easy on the joints, but an intense workout for the body, AquaPower will run in the 7-12-foot-deep competition pool. With motivating music and movements designed to build your endurance and strength, AquaPower is a great class for those who want to cross-train from running, biking, or other land exercises that are repetitive on the joints.

Lifeguards assist in the maintenance of the swimming pools, monitor and record the pool chemistry, and provide for the overall general health, safety, and enjoyment of the pool patrons. Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is pleased to announce the resumption of its annual Independence Day celebration and “An American Salute” concert for the community in partnership with the Hershey Symphony Orchestra. The event will take place on the front lawn of the Medical Center at 7:30 pm. on Sunday, July 3, with a rain date of Monday, July 4. The first half of the concert will feature movie blockbusters – with music from Star Wars, James Bond, Jurassic Park, and more – and the second half will be “A Salute to America.” Complimentary ice cream and water will be provided by Hershey Medical Center, Hershey Ice Cream, and Filson Water. A variety of food and drink will be available for purchase from food trucks.
