The public is invited to attend the Derry Township Board of Supervisors Meeting on Tuesday, June 22nd at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will be held in-person at the Derry Township Administration Building

Stop this Invader! Spotted Lanternfly
The spotted lanternfly, native to Asia, is an invasive and extremely destructive pest that threatens important agricultural commodities, including the grape, hardwood, tree fruit, and landscape.  
 
If you see a spotted lanternfly, please kill it. Also, please report it immediately online at https://services.agriculture.pa.gov/SLFReport or call 1-888-4BADFLY (1-888-422-3359).

Downtown Hershey Association’s Market on Chocolate Open for The Summer
Join your friends and neighbors as the Downtown Hershey Association opened Market on Chocolate on Saturday. The market is open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. throughout the summer.

National Night Out
Derry Township’s Annual National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 from 6PM-8PM in the 1st block of West Caracas Avenue. Come join us, meet your neighbors, and help celebrate community unity against crime! We have already heard from some of our past groups who are going to host a table at the event, but there are tables still available. We can always use volunteers as well. Business or Community Groups interested in hosting a table or wanting to volunteer should contact Officer Rebecca Kessler or Sergeant Darren Cotten at 717-534-2202 (extensions 3106 and 3094) by June 11, 2021. You can also email them at rkessler@derrytownship.org or dccotten@derrytownship.org. We are looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces that we missed so very much with the cancellation last year!

Stories for Everyone
Monday, June 21 - 10:00 am to 10:30 am.

Join Rita Smith, Children's Librarian, on the library's Facebook page for Stories for Everyone, live each Monday morning with a storytime suitable for families and daycares. The live recording will be available for a week, until the next fun-filled Facebook Live. Registration is not required.
Community Blood Drive
Tuesday, June 22 - 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank community blood drive at the library. Please call the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank at 1-800-771-0059 to schedule an appointment or schedule an appointment online. Walk-ins might have to wait if there are appointments at that time. Masks are required. A form of ID is also required to donate.
Coloring in the r.g.
Tuesday, June 22 - 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Bring colored pencils, markers, crayons, snacks, and we will have clip boards, adult coloring sheets, and music. For teens and adults. Registration is not required.
Furry Tales
Wednesday, June 23 - 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Struggling readers are paired with licensed therapy dogs and their handlers from Caring Hearts Pet Therapy. A selection of suitable reading material is provided for the children to read to the dogs, or you may bring your own! Program will be held in the Reading Garden and is suitable for children in grades K-5. Please register online.
Fear of Commitment Short Fiction Book Group
Thursday, June 24 - 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Join Aly Tran and our friends at Cassel Vineyards, 80 Shetland Dr, Hummelstown, PA 17036, for another the Fear of Commitment Book Group. Download the e-book from www.hoopladigital.com: Lee Child’s Wet the Rain can be found in both the Belfast Noir edited by Adrian McKinty & Stuart Neville and The Best American Mystery Stories edited by James Patterson. The library has a limited number of copies in print. Please ask at the Public Service desk. Registration is not required but you must be age 21 and older to attend.
Virtual LEGO Club
Friday, June 25 - 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Budding architects and LEGO fanatics ages 6+ are welcome to join LEGO Club. Please register online, A Zoom link will be provided along with the week's challenge via email prior to the club meeting. Suitable for children age 6 and older.
Open Mic in the r.g.
Friday, June 25 - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Enjoy the talents of local musicians in the library's
Reading Garden. (r.g.) All performances will be family friendly and showcase the musical gifts of local artists. Bring your own lawn chair, snacks, and maybe a blanket and enjoy music as the sun goes down. Everyone is welcome. Registration is not required.
Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors Family Book Group
Saturday, June 26 - 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Register online for a virtual book discussion on, "This Book is Anti-Racist” by Tiffany Jewell. Books are provided to registered participants by the library.
Abe Ovadia, Jazz Guitarist
Saturday, June 26 - 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Join us outside the library as we enjoy listening to Abe Ovadia's Jazz. Bring your lawn chairs and a blanket just in case. This will be a wonderful hour of LIVE music outside the library. Please register online for this Friends Adult Program.

Volleyball Fun
The Joy of Sports Foundation presents volleyball instruction and recreation offerings at the Geldar Park sand volleyball courts

Girls & boys ages 8-14 can have an introduction to the game, learn & practice skills, understand the rules, and play games.

Activities take place on Wednesday, from 6PM to 8PM on the following days: July 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th.

Kids Fit Program
Kids Fit will assist children ages 5-14 by introducing them to basic movement and exercise to show how the body works and how it can benefit through exercise, strength training and over-all self-improvement. Food Truck Friday
Spring Creek Church of the Brethren hosts Food Truck Friday on June 25, 5 - 8 PM in the church parking lot located at the end of Areba Avenue, Hershey (335 East Areba), rain or shine. The event is free and open to the public -- just pay as you eat! Purchase from a variety of food trucks: Forrest Feeds, Cheesy Grill, Next Level Pizza, Scoop O Dough, and Dog Treats. Plus: outdoor games and water sprinklers!  Enjoy food and fun while supporting local businesses. Save-the-dates for Food Truck Friday also on July 23 and August 27. Kiwanis Blueberry Sale
The Kiwanis Club of Hershey/Hummelstown is again selling Blueberries this year. The price is the same as last year at $32 for a 10 pound box. The New Jersey blueberries arrive within 24 hours of picking!

Last date for orders is Thursday, June 24, 2021
Blueberries must be picked up Wednesday, June 30th from 12 NOON to 6PM at 21 Tice Avenue, Hershey, Pa 17033

JavaPalooza 2021
The community is invited for a full day of live music by some of Central PA's most legendary bands, food trucks, games, prizes and lots of "Fun Stuff" for all ages. The JavaPalooza Street Festival in Hershey has something for everyone. Come early, stay for the day.
