Director of Library Services
|
The Township of Derry is seeking a Director of Library Services for the Hershey Public Library. The Hershey Public Library is an independent library serving a population of over 24,000 in hospitable South Central Pennsylvania. It circulates over 200,000 items annually, and has a collection of 140,000 items. The 2021 operating budget is $1 million. The Library has an award-winning Friends group and a separate Endowment Trust that support the library’s mission.

Community Center Capital Campaign
Ends June 30th
|
The Hershey Community Center Captial Campaign will accept pledges of $5,000 or more until the end of June in order to start processing naming recognitions for donors.
If you're interested in making a pledge of $5,000 or more and wish to have a naming opportunity, please complete your pledge form by visiting the Community Center website. Pledges may be paid over time through the end of 2024.
One-time donations of less than $5,000 will be accepted online through June 30, or via check through the end of 2021. Please send checks to this address:

Downtown Hershey Association’s Market on Chocolate Open for The Summer
|
Join your friends and neighbors as the Downtown Hershey Association opened Market on Chocolate on Saturday. The market is open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. throughout the summer.

Derry Township’s Annual National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 from 6PM-8PM in the 1st block of West Caracas Avenue. Come join us, meet your neighbors, and help celebrate community unity against crime! We have already heard from some of our past groups who are going to host a table at the event, but there are tables still available. We can always use volunteers as well. Business or Community Groups interested in hosting a table or wanting to volunteer should contact Officer Rebecca Kessler or Sergeant Darren Cotten at 717-534-2202 (extensions 3106 and 3094). You can also email them at rkessler@derrytownship.org or dccotten@derrytownship.org. We are looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces that we missed so very much with the cancellation last year!

Ms. Rita will be on Facebook LIVE each Monday morning with a storytime suitable for families and daycares. The live recording will be available for a week, until the next fun-filled Facebook Live. Tune in on Monday mornings or a time that suits you. Suitable for children ages 3 to 5. Registration is not required.

Tweens and teens, come join us. We will be working on wrapping a protective cover on your charging cords. We will have yarn, but feel free to bring your own. Bring friends, snacks, and your charging cords to hang out outside in the r.g (Reading Garden) and braid some protection for the ever-important power chords. Registration is not required.

The Joy of Sports Foundation presents volleyball instruction and recreation offerings at the Geldar Park sand volleyball courts
Girls & boys ages 8-14 can have an introduction to the game, learn & practice skills, understand the rules, and play games.
Activities take place on Wednesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following days: July 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th.

Kids Fit will assist children ages 5-14 by introducing them to basic movement and exercise to show how the body works and how it can benefit through exercise, strength training and over-all self-improvement. Gentle Yoga class is the perfect class to begin your yoga experience. You will learn the alignment of each pose, ways to modify to suit your physical needs, and how your breath is a tool for your practice.

The Joy of Sports Foundations presents Girls 'Flag' Rugby for 2nd - 8th grade girls. This introduction to the game will be held at Palmdale Park and will teach the rules and promote leadership development as well as skill/confidence building.
Summer clinics take place on August 1st. The fall program runs from September 14th through October 31st.

Spring Creek Church of the Brethren hosts Food Truck Friday on June 25, 5 - 8 p.m. in the church parking lot located at the end of Areba Avenue, Hershey (335 East Areba), rain or shine.
