PA American Water Rate Increase
Last year, Pennsylvania American Water began the process of examining investments already made and those needed to ensure continued safe and reliable water and wastewater service. Following that extensive process, Pennsylvania American Water today filed a general rate increase request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC). The filing, a first step of a nearly year-long rate review process, is in accordance with the Commission’s pre-filing notice regulations. Any new rates set by the Commission would not be effective until 2021.
Pennsylvania American Water is very sensitive to the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and was among the first utility to voluntarily suspend shutoffs for nonpayment. That suspension will remain in effect until further notice. Additionally, the rate request includes expanding our customer assistance program to further help water and wastewater customers in greatest needs.

Calling on the Community!!
Due to the current situation involving Covid-19, we are not able to have our annual Memorial Day ceremony or parade, so we’re reaching out to the community to honor America’s heroes! We hope that you can submit to us video clips of “What Memorial Means to You!” We are going to gather as many video clips from April 29th through May 13th. Once compiled we will air them on our Facebook page on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020! All clips must be sent to no later than 12 pm on May 13th.

Below are some thoughts/ideas for you to get started:
  • “What Memorial Day Means to Me.”
  • “Consider the sacrifices soldiers have made, and make, for our country. Share some of your thoughts thanking them for their service.”
  • “Find a quote that you believe appropriately honors/summarizes Memorial Day, and explain why you chose this quote.
  • ”Interview a relative, neighbor or veteran, who lived through one of the wars of the twentieth and
  • twenty first centuries. Share about that person’s experience and how it relates to
  • Memorial Day.”
