Daylight Saving Time Ends This Weekend
We will gain an extra hour this weekend with the end of Daylight Saving Time. Don't forget to turn your clock back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night.

33rd Winter Arts and Craft Show
The Department of Parks and Recreation invites you to the annual Arts and Craft Show on Saturday, November 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Hershey High School, 550 Homestead Road.

Shop original creations made by talented artisans. Find a unique gift for someone on your holiday list.
Parking and admission is free.
Compete in the USCF Rated Chess Tournament
The Hershey Public Library will hold a USCF Rated Chess Tournament on Saturday, November 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 701 Cocoa Avenue.

The tournament is o pen to chess players of all ages and skill levels. There will be three rounds with players in quad sections based on rating and age. This will be a rated chess event, current United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership is required. (Sign up for USCF at

Young players and players new to rated chess tournaments are welcome and encouraged to participate! 

Format: Open (all ages) and Scholastic Quads. Quads are 4 player sections. Each player plays one game vs each player in his/her quad. Advanced online registration is through Eventbrite . The cost is $15 through Friday, November 2 and $20 Saturday, November 3. Please email the chess tournament organizer, Leteef Street, at with any questions.
Friends of the Hershey Public Library Present Aladdin
The Popcorn Hat Players will perform Aladdin on Saturday, November 10 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.

One of the most famous tales from Arabian Nights, the story of Aladdin and his magic lamp has entertained all ages for hundreds of years. Join Aladdin and his super-powered Genie as he learns an important lesson in responsibility. Can Aladdin outwit the evil Fazeem and win the heart of the beautiful princess? Remember, be careful what you wish for!

Registration is not required for this Friends sponsored family program. Everyone is welcome to attend.

It's Game Time for Teens at the Hershey Public Library
Wednesday, November 7, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

In the Middle: Games will be offered to teens in grade 6 and higher to play games at the library! Each month, we will explore a new theme with a theme-specific game, but we also have plenty of other board games to choose from. Play various story-writing games such as Story Cubes. The library is located at 701 Cocoa Avenue.
Creative, Designing Minds to Build with Legos
Wednesday, November 7, 4:00 to 4:45 p.m.

Budding architects and builders age 6 and older are invited to register online  for Lego Club at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue. 

Have fun constructing a project based on a challenge set by the children's librarian.
Car Care - Responsibility Comes with the Keys
The Hershey Public Library's teen Adulting program will cover car care on Thursday, November 8 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. High school students are invited to learn about safe and responsible car ownership. This program is presented by Patrick Lewis.
Library and Recycling Center Hours and Addresses
Recycling Center Hours   - 650 Clearwater Road 
The hours for the Recycling Center will change on November 5. The Center will not be open on Wednesdays and Saturday's hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through March 9, 2019.

Stuff The Truck Event Supports Derry Township's Volunteer Run Community Cat Program
Derry Township Community Cats (DTCC) will be holding its annual Stuff The Truck donation and supply drive at Karns Foods, 731 Cherry Drive, Hershey, on November 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Items DTCC needs include Purina dry cat food (adult and kitten), paper towels, 30-gallon garbage bags, perfume free laundry detergent, clumping and non-clumping cat litter, cat treats and small washable cat toys. Linens are not generally needed, but beach-sized towels would be especially appreciated! Monetary donations help us pay medical expenses for cats that need extra care when they come through our program.

DTCC provides free spay and neuter services for outside cats in Derry Township and low-cost spay/neuter service for owned cats. Enter the raffle at the event to win a cat bed full of delights for your kitty. If you have questions, leave a message at 717-592-8087, or email . Visit for more information on the program.
Join the Tröegs Cranksgiving Food Drive
Tröegs Brewery will hold a Cranksgiving Ride on Sunday, November 18 from 8:00 to 12:00 p.m.
Cranksgiving is a nation-wide food drive on two wheels, where participants ride bikes to grocery stores and acquire requested items for the local food bank so they’re nice and stocked for Thanksgiving.

Participation is free, you only need a bike, lock, $15-$20 for food items, and a proper bag to ride with items to the Hershey Food Bank.

In addition to the ride, Tröegs will set up a food drive from Friday, November 16 through Wednesday, November 21 to increase donations to the Hershey Food Bank.

Hershey Chorus Salutes VA Hospital Veterans
In honor of our Veterans, the Hershey Community Chorus Ensemble will present a “Salute to Veterans” on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Hospital. The program will take place in the lobby of Building 17. 

The 30-member Ensemble, under the direction of James Hoffmann, will sing several traditional patriotic numbers including God Bless America , the Battle Hymn of the Republic , and Let There be Peace on Earth . They will also sing The Armed Forces -The Pride of America , a medley of the music of each branch of the Armed Forces. The colors will be presented by the Color Guard of VFW Post 23.
Grace United Methodist Church Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner Community Meal
What is better than a homemade Thanksgiving meal, complete with all the trimmings? Sharing this home cooked meal with others! Join us at Grace United Methodist Church located at 433 East Main Street, Hummelstown, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22..
