Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey
Dauphin County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP will analyze the hazards faced by the County and Derry Township, its residents, and businesses, and will identify a strategy for minimizing the vulnerability to these hazards. You can find out more about the HMP and the planning process here: We encourage all residents and visitors of the County to provide input into the planning process. We have developed a short survey about the County and the risks it faces. We would greatly appreciate it if you would complete the survey and otherwise participate in this important endeavor. The survey can be found here: Thank you for your participation in this planning effort!
Spotted Lanternfly Season Update
When putting lanternfly tape around trees, take an extra step to put chicken wire or small gauge wire over the exposed tape. We received many calls about bats, birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, baby owls, snakes, and other wildlife getting stuck to the tape on the trees. This tape is so sticky that the animal ultimately ends up dying from the stress of being stuck, or suffers wounds and loss of feathers, fur, or skin and could lead to euthanasia.

Guidelines for how to properly protect these animals from such tape can be found at this link.

If you have any questions regarding proper tape use, please feel free to reach out to Bob Piccolo from Public Works, 717-533-2057, OPT 4, or for further information.
