TMI Siren Test
Please be advised that Exelon will test all the emergency sirens around Three Mile Island on Thursday, December 5th at 12:15p.m. During the test, all 96 sirens will sound for a full three minutes. 
Proposed 2020 Budget
The proposed Derry Township 2020 budget is available for the public to review on the Township website. In addition, copies are available to the public at the administration building upon request. The Township Board of Supervisors are expected to vote on the budget at its December 17, 2019 meeting. 
PPL Project update
PPL plans to complete current construction work by Thanksgiving, and the remainder of the line will be constructed in early 2020. Restoration activities will be completed in Spring 2020 to ensure best grass growth. Downtown Hershey's Holiday Celebration
Downtown Hershey’s Holiday Celebration will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in ChocolateTown Square. This exciting event is fun for all ages, and offers a wide array of activities and entertainment for the community. Santa will arrive shortly after 3:00 p.m. and the annual tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. Click here for more information.

New Year's Eve in Hershey
Join us as we "Rock Through the Decades" in Downtown Hershey on New Year's Eve! As we prepare to ring in a new decade, Pentagon and The Mahoney Brothers present "Jukebox Heroes Live" will be playing sing-along fan favorites from the 1960s to today.

We encourage you come dressed to celebrate your favorite decade! As always, the event is FREE and family friendly. Stay tuned for more details about this year's event.

Dungeons & Dragons
Friday, November 22. 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Dungeons & Dragons is hosted by the High School Dungeons and Dragons Club. Open to teens and tweens in grade 6-12. Come to play a tabletop fantasy role-playing game. Registration is not required.
Fused Glass Class
Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Join the instructor, Kathleen Forney, to learn how to make either a fused glass coral bowl, necklace with slider or an ornament (tree) by cutting glass of various types and colors and fusing it into your own unique design. The design is then fired in the kiln at the instructor’s studio and returned to the class site two weeks later for pick up. Ages 10 through 16 are welcome with a parent. Please register in person at the library. Fee: $15/$25/$30 (ornament/necklace/medium-sized coral bowl). There are only a few openings for both classes.
Play Day for Families
Friday, November 29. 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Families with children ages 2-5 are welcome to register for an hour of center-based free play that encourages children and their adults to engage in the five practice of Early Literacy: talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing. Decorating with the First Ladies

Coleen Christan Burke, a longtime resident of Bucks County, and an award-winning designer and author of Christmas with the First Ladies, will share the magic of White House Christmas decorating from Jackie Kennedy thru Melania Trump. Come see our First Families, in both public and private moments, as they celebrated the most wonderful time of the year in the most famous home in America, the White House. Books will be signed and sold at the program

The Hershey Public Library will close early at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27, and will be closed all day on Thursday, November 28.

"Stuff the Truck" at Karns
On Saturday, November 23, Derry Township Community Cats is sponsoring “Stuff the Truck” - a supply and donation drive at Karns Food Store, 731 Cherry Drive from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The community is invited to bring the following cat care items to put in our truck in front of Karns: litter boxes and scoopers, dry cat food (Purina), wet food (Fancy Feast or Friskies), cat litter (Yesterday’s News), small washable cat toys, paper towels, plates and bowls, antibacterial hand soap, clorox wipes, laundry detergent (perfume free/unscented). Karns gift cards and monetary donations are also greatly appreciated! This event helps to provide our program supplies for the upcoming year.

Land of Fun: The Story of an Old-Fashioned Amusement Park for the Ages

Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society Museum
 
Al Fasnacht, the senior member of the Fasnacht family of Hershey that has owned and operated Funland amusement park on the Rehoboth Beach, Del., boardwalk since 1962, will be talking about his Hershey roots, the family business and the new book about the park and his family at the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society on Sunday, November 24 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The book, called "Land of Fun: The Story of an Old-Fashioned Amusement Park for the Ages"; was written by Chris Lindsley, who worked at Funland for six summers in the 1980s.
 
Copies of the book will be available for sale for $20, and Al and Chris will sign copies after the event.

3RD ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER

The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to invite you to the Third annual Thanksgiving meal. The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department is excited to open its doors and share the holiday. Community Thanksgiving Meal
What is better than a homemade Thanksgiving meal, complete with all the trimmings?? Sharing this home cooked meal with others!! Join us at Grace United Methodist Church located at 433 East Main Street in Hummelstown, from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 28th). We will be hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner open to the community, complete with turkey, homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish and homemade pies! If you are able to attend, please give us a call at the church office, 717-566-2897. We hope you can come spend this holiday with us!
Elf Skate & Santa Social
Have you ever wanted to learn to skate with Santa's elves? Santa and his elves will take a quick break from their Christmas toy making to visit & ice skate with us! After the fun of skating with the elves, tell Santa your last-minute wish list over some warm chocolate chip cookies & hot cocoa. Bring your camera for a special picture with Father Christmas himself!  

6:30-7:30pm - learn to skate & games with the elves
7:30-8:30pm - meet & greet with Santa!

$20 includes ice skating lesson, skate rental, parking at the Giant Center, goodies, cookies, cocoa, & all the pictures you care to take!
