PennDOT to conduct daily closures of Wood Road from 10/21 through 10/30/2019
PennDOT will be closing Wood Road from October 21st thru October 30th to replace and update four corrugated metal cross pipes and replace them with corrugated plastic pipes. They will have temporary daily road closures and a detour setup. They will close the road everyday starting at 6am and reopen the road at 6pm. The detour route will be as follows:

  • Intersection of Waltonville Road and Wood Road - Traffic will be detoured onto Waltonville Road a left onto Service Road a left onto Middletown Road back to Wood Road.

  • Intersection of Middletown Road and Wood Road - Traffic will be detoured onto Middletown Road a right onto Service Road a right onto Waltonville Road back to Wood Road.

Motorists are encouraged to plan extra time to their travels during the closures to navigate the detour route. 
Community Center News
The project designs for the new Community Center are scheduled to be voted on at the October 22 Board of Supervisors meeting and potentially approved and put out for bids. If approved, the bids would be due by November 20 and the Board could consider awarding the project at its December 3 meeting. Design concepts for the new community center can be viewed in the lobby of the Township Administration Building or on our website.
PPL Continues Work in Hershey
PPL completed trenching, installing conduit and backfilling on Homestead Road and in The Hershey Company parking lot. They anticipate completing backfilling of the trench near the tennis courts during October. They will also pave Homestead Road and The Hershey Company parking lot this month.

Traffic Advisory
The 10th Annual Hershey Half Marathon benefiting The Children's Miracle Network will be taking place this Sunday morning. Please be advised that some roadways will be closed during this event.

Did Someone Say Choctoberfest?
What's not to love about chocolate, October, and festivals? The 5th annual Choctoberfest will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. in ChocolateTown Square Park, located on the corner of Chocolate and Cocoa Avenues in Downtown Hershey. This family-friendly fall festival features great live music, local craft beer, chocolate, and delicious food from downtown restaurants, and offers an array of family and children’s activities. Choctoberfest is free and open to the public, with food and beverages available for purchase.

National Friends of the Library Week

Hershey Public Library's 3rd Edible Book Contest
Friday, October 25. 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Design an edible creation based on the wonderful world of books in celebration of National Friends of the Library Week. Submit your own entry, or just stop by to enjoy refreshments and cast your ballot to select a winner for the three categories. If you would like to submit an edible book in the contest, please register by either picking up a contest entry form and rules at the library, or download to print a contest entry form and contest rules on the library's website at . You may also register  online . Wednesday, October 23 at 8 p.m. is the deadline to submit an entry. Registration is not required to view and vote for literary-inspired culinary creations! 
Friends Special Film Showing: "Labyrinth"
Saturday, October 26. 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please come to enjoy this adventure, family friendly, fantasy film from 1986 starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. A 16-year-old girl is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King. Registration is not required. Film rated PG. This Friends program is open to children age 8 and older with an accompanying adult. Friends provide snacks while you enjoy the film.

Hershey Symphony Orchestra October Concert
Join The Hershey Symphony Orchestra on Friday, October 25 at 8 p.m. at The Hershey Theatre for “There’s Always Room for Cello.” The concert brings Canadian cellist Morag Northey to town to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto, a cornerstone of solo cello repertoire. Tickets range from $22 to $29 and are available at The Hershey Theatre Box Office or through Ticketmaster. Processing fees apply. 
This is My Brave Program Comes to our Community
Please join This is My Brave in Hershey, PA for the first High School edition program – a live presentation of essays, original music, comedy and poetry performed by high school students living with―or loving someone with―a mental health condition. Be sure to join us in the lobby immediately following the show for a meet-and-greet with the cast and creative team!
Due to some mature content and strong language, parental guidance is advised for children under 13.
The event will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Hershey Theatre. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students. All tickets are general admission.

Women's Civic Club of Hershey Meeting
The Women's Civic Club of Hershey will meet on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Traditions in Hershey, 100 N Larkspur Dr, Palmyra. Dolores McGee of D. McGee Design Studios will share her expertise on landscape design, container gardens and floral arrangements. The Women's Civic Club of Hershey is open to all women 18 years and older.

23rd Annual Preservation Gala: Riding the Silver Blades
Join us on Friday, November 1, at the Giant Center when the Historical Society and Hershey Figure Skating Club proudly present a classic evening of on-ice history at our  23rd Annual Preservation Gala, Riding the Silver Blades .  The Gala will revisit 85 years of the Skating Club’s Ice Carnivals, paying tribute to stars and songs of the past.

Highlights for Gala guests include special artifact displays for one night only, themed food and dessert stations throughout the concourse, a silent auction highlighted by one-of-a-kind items, and select seating.

HFSC will complete the evening with an ice carnival spotlighting selections from each decade of the Club’s history, featuring Club alumni and special guests. The annual Preservation Awards will be presented during the show, and will recognize one of our town’s most identifiable landmarks. Don’t miss this historic celebration!

On October 24th Mr. Tim McGowan, will give a presentation "What I have been doing!"

18th Annual Moonlight Gala
