Happy Birthday, Mr. Hershey!
Current News
Traffic Update
Please be advised, in an effort to mitigate on-going traffic concerns in the region, Derry Township, in partnership, with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts will be closing the northbound slip ramp on Park Boulevard into the Giant Center for the upcoming Backstreet Boys Concert on Monday, September 16, 2019. Spectators will be required to enter the Giant Center Parking lots via Hersheypark Drive.
Long term solutions for traffic in the region will continue to be a priority for Derry Township and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. No one singular solution will resolve this problem and it will require a sustained measured effort to develop solutions to continue to make Derry Township a great place to live, work and play. We ask for your continued patience as we work through this process.

September 2019: Derry Township 69kV Power Line Rebuild Project Update from PPL
We’ve completed all work on Cocoa and Elm for this year. This includes repaving portions of the road that were affected by construction. We also paved the parts of Homestead Road where we have completed construction.

Construction is still being done along Homestead Road near the school. We coordinated with the school district to stop construction during the drop off and pick up times for the school. Therefore, construction occurs during the day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Once we complete the work along Homestead Road, we will perform work in the Hershey Parking lot and near the tennis courts.

By early October, once we finish in the Hershey Parking lot, we will move back to the school property and do construction work near the track and behind the baseball fields. We will continue coordinating and communicating this effort with the township and school district.

We do not expect to start construction on the remainder of the line until Spring 2020. The above ground line will be removed once the underground line is complete.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on the project by sharing monthly updates in the Derry Township eNews and sending letters bi-monthly during construction. As construction begins in your area, we will also provide door-to-door outreach to affected residents.
