Southern California RECAP

April 10th-11th, 2024 | Golden West College | Huntington Beach, CA

We are so grateful for the success of the Southern California Design Build Competition®!

41 teams and 544 high school students participated

in the competition at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA.


They worked for 14+ hours in two days to build structures that

will be donated, sold, and used within their communities.

Design Build Competition® People's Choice Award!

COMPETITION WINNERS

The Craftsmanship Award was won by Valenica High School, which had the highest combined Construction Evaluation and Building Code Compliance scores.

Roosevelt High School was awarded the Team Safety Award

for best overall points for safety judging.

Rylan Boyle, of John Burroughs High School was awarded Construction Manager of the Year.


This award was introduced last year and recognizes individuals who meet deadlines, exemplify leadership skills, and garner the greatest points for their video submissions.

Seth Pepper, of IDEA Center High School was awarded Safety Person of the Year.


This award goes to one individual who has assumed the role of the Designated Safety Person for their team. Selected by a judging panel of safety professionals, this award goes to an individual who exhibits a keen understanding of worksite safety, appropriate safety regulation, and documentation and ensures that their local worksite is being operated safely.

·   Mark Richardson Career Technical Education Center- Santa Maria was awarded the Architectural Award for the

Open Competition.

Orange Grove High School won the Architectural Award for the

Shed Competition.

The Honorable Mention Award went to Sultana High School.

Apple Valley High School

won the Best of Show for the

Open Competition.

Fontana High School

won the Best of Show for the

Shed Competition.
