Every Home and Every Client is Unique.
When I was designing for the Philadelphia magazine Design Home this year, I imagined that a new clients family actually lived there. The family room needs to be as special as you are, no matter what size or shape it is. I am here to help you enjoy this very important room. Great design is a necessity. It expresses your personality. By making it more attractive and more functional for you, it enhances your enjoyment of life.
One of the biggest challenges at this years design home was the family room because it had ceilings as high as two floors. While impressive, it was important to make it feel warm and cozy. Most clients first concern is where to put the TV. Although television is an important part of our lives, it is not the most attractive object in a room. To soften its appearance, we put a frame around it, just as you would for a painting or photograph.
While enjoying a favorite TV program, the propane fireplace provides warmth. The large walls on both sides of the fireplace begged for black, floating shelves to display artwork. The floating cabinets below added storage. A custom, Travertine marble surround and mantle completed the look.
Windows as large as these needed special attention too. While there was a beautiful view during the day, at times the sun glared in on the TV screen. At night the wall of windows was just black and cold. Motorized traverse drapery flattered the view and provided relief from the sun.
Who wouldnt want to curl up on this sectional? The two unique leather chairs were very comfortable as well. My personal favorite is to relax in a chair and ottoman by the fire on a chilly winter day. Overall this room became warm and inviting. I had to smile every time I entered it, and this is exactly how I can make you feel about any room in your home.
