Novi Concert Band ready for Halloween fun
Free fall concert takes place at 2pm, Oct. 23 at Civic Center
Enjoy the spooky sounds of Halloween - along with show tunes and classical music - at the Novi Concert Band's annual fall concert on Oct. 23.

The band, made up of talented volunteers from Novi and surrounding communities, will take the stage at 2pm at the Novi Civic Center.

This all-ages concert is free and sure to entertain. The group plays in a dozen annual public concerts throughout the area, including a pair of winter concerts in Novi at the library on Dec. 8 and the Civic Center on Dec. 11.

Don't miss out on Addicted to Movies night
All night movie marathon at Emagine Novi on Monday, Nov. 7
Tickets are going fast for the always sold out Addicted to Movies, Not Drugs event on Monday, Nov. 7 at Emagine Novi.

For just $10, teens in grades 7-12 from Novi and the surrounding area will enjoy four movies, pizza, popcorn and soda. The event is put on by the Novi Youth Council to benefit drug prevention and education.

A current student ID is required at check-in, and there will be no walk up registration.

Tennis programs serving up fun this fall
Introduce your kid to tennis through FunStart, beginner classes
Learn the sport of tennis through a pair of programs catered to youth.

FunStart Tennis, which is for ages 6-10, is an official recognized USTA program that teaches the skills of forehand, backhard, volley and serve while playing various games. Classes take place on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, starting in November. The registration deadline is Oct. 27.

Coach Todd Beyer is back again with his Youth Beginner Tennis program for ages 7-10 and 11-15. Students will be taught the fundamentals of how to hold the racquet, correct swing techniques and proper footwork. Classes are offered on Wednesday or Thursday, starting in November. The registration deadline is Oct. 27.

Celebrate Day of the Dead in Novi
Free community event, 2-4pm, Sunday, Oct. 30 at Civic Center
Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and once again we are bringing it to Novi.

The free community event takes place from 2-4pm on Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Novi Civic Center and includes light refreshments, festive music, making your own sugar skull, paper flowers and papel picado, try on traditional dance costumes and enjoy dance demonstrations.
