Delights of a Detox Bath

Bath Suggestion #1
Baking Soda-Epsom Salt Soak

This amazing bath is simple and inexpensive, yet can deliver amazing health benefits to anyone.  We use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which you will recall from the Throat Chakra lesson, helps restore pH balance to your body. But what you may not know is that baking soda is an excellent way to detox the body of toxins and harmful metals.

Epsom salts are added to the bath, providing transdermal application of magnesium, an extremely important mineral that serves hundreds of important functions in the body.

The Recipe

  • Tub full of good clean, hot water (make sure your water does not contain chlorine or fluoride and other harmful metals)
  • One pound of baking soda (one small box)
  • Two - three cups of Epsom salts
  • Optional: Essential oils like lavender, peppermint, or eucalyptus
Soak in the tub for 20 - 30 minutes.

Note: If your water is chlorinated or contains fluoride, you may want to put a filter on your plumbing, faucet or shower heads to filter these harmful substances.

Miracle of Magnesium

Magnesium is a necessary element for all living organisms. It is the key component of cells, bones, tissues, and physiological health and well-being.

Magnesium is the basic building block of life. Not only does it help muscles relax , it can help you get a good night's sleep.

If you are deficient in  magnesium, you may feel tired and lethargic. Many times the lack of energy you feel is a result of being magnesium deficient.

It is difficult to absorb magnesium orally unless eaten in its natural forms found in green vegetables, nuts, seeds and unrefined grains. This is why you will want to apply magnesium transdermally every day.

In between Epsom salt baths, which are naturally filled with magnesium, we recommend that you spray magnesium oil on your skin. Some people prefer to spray on their skin prior to their shower or bath . After the oil is absorbed, the white residue can be rinsed off.

Others prefer to spray on their skin after their shower or bath. Try applying a natural lotion on your skin after showering and then spraying magnesium oil on my thighs and legs. No need to remove.

Ancient Minerals makes a variety of magnesium products. Find a system that works best for you.  And while you are at it, order a bottle of nascent iodine from their site if you haven't picked some up from our recommendations in the last ASCEND lesson.

Bath Suggestion #2
Magnetic Clay Bath
Another type of detox bath that we recommend is a Bentonite clay bath. Our in-home favorite comes from the same folks that offer the ancient mineral magnesium spray pictured above.*

* We are not compensated in any way by this company for our recommendation. As always, we only recommend that which we have used and have benefited.  If you cannot get this brand in your country, see what type of Bentonite clay is available in your area.
Bath Suggestion #3
Natural Mineral and Clay Baths
Visit the mineral and clay springs in your area or create a vacation around the theme of springs-hopping in a geographical area. One of our favorite spots is Chena Hot Springs, Alaska, where this picture was taken. Nothing more invigorating than a hot mineral bath at minus 40 degrees!

Or if you are in the California area, try a volcanic ash mud bath at Calistoga Hot Springs.

Here is a list of mineral springs around the world. Is there something in your area that you haven't explored yet?  Hot Mineral Springs List
