Los Angeles Budget Proposal, a Call to Action, and Event Reminder!

We have been bombarded with emails and calls about the budget proposal in Los Angeles to close animal shelters and layoff personnel.

We have offered our input to the Mayor's office to collaborate on improving the city's animal shelters; however, like many other stakeholders, we have been ignored.

If you are a City of Los Angeles resident and want to oppose the proposed slashing of services that would certainly lead to the death and suffering of many more animals, please read Controller Mejia's instructions on how to give public comment below.

AB 478 (Zbur), the FOUND Act, will be voted on in the Assembly Committee on Emergency Management this Monday, April 28th!

Please call the Committee members today and ask that they vote YES on AB 478!

The hearing for AB 478 is officially scheduled the day after our event, April 28th, in the Assembly Committee on Emergency Management.

🎤 A Press Conference for AB 478 at the Viceroy! With many key voices already gathered for our event, we are adding a press conference, promptly at 3:30 p.m. It's the perfect time to spotlight the bill and rally momentum. Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur will be joining us, along with Mayor Lana Negrete, Councilmember Haylynn Conrad, Chris Ramon, and Casey Colvin!

This is a relaxed, casual afternoon gathering — not a formal dinner. Expect amazing vegan appetizers, drinks, heartfelt conversations, and a chance to connect with truly inspiring people who are making a difference for animals.

Special guests will include: Elected officials, veterinarians, animal rescuers, journalists, philanthropists — and a true hero, Chief Brent Pascua, who bravely saved Teeka Teeka and Oreo from imminent danger.
