Developing ADCs Part 1: Targeting cancer with inspiring antibody targets

Antibodies are arguably the main part of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), providing the ‘homing’ component to precisely target tumors throughout the body. To combat specific tumors, the antibody must also be specific and accurate against an antigen expressed only on the target tissue type. As such, finding innovative targets is the first step towards developing ADCs.

Here’s some inspiring ADC targets we have found in our latest research:

Leucine-rich Repeat-containing Protein 15 (LRRC15)

Cell surface protein that plays a role in cell-to-cell and cell-matrix interactions.

· Expression: Overexpressed on mesenchymal stem cells & fibroblasts

· Relevant Diseases: Breast, head, neck, lung, pancreatic cancers.

· Status: Promising results from preclinical studies.

Cadherin 6 (CDH6)

Transmembrane protein expressed during embryonic development.

·  Expression: Upregulated in certain cancers.

·  Relevant Diseases: Renal cell carcinoma and ovarian cancer.

·  Status: Promising results from preclinical studies (DS-6000a, Daiichi Sankyo)
